As our Manufacturing Engineer, you will report to the Director of Operations at our facility in Sandusky, OH. This is an onsite role as your presence in the manufacturing plant will allow for collaboration with the shop floor and cross functional teams. On a given day, you may: Lead efforts to improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Ensures product and process quality by designing advanced testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing and maintaining high standards; confirming manufacturing processes. Provides strategic manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements. Develops and implements advanced manufacturing methods for improving utilization standards and cost to promote efficient staff, facility, and materials utilization. Determine and optimize best processes, tools, sequences, and techniques to ensure on-time delivery of low-cost, quality products to customers. Create and refine routings, establish time standards, determine material usage requirements for manufactured parts/components. Research and analyze material, labor, and overhead requirements to provide accurate cost estimates for parts, processes, and projects. Provides comprehensive manufacturing engineering information to the shop floor by communicating new product releases and ECNs; answering questions and requests. Manages and improves cost estimating tools for accuracy and flexibility; Investigate and resolve variances from cost estimating tools. Supports quality initiatives by creating and editing work instructions, conducting root cause analysis of quality issues, and assisting with quality inspections of both internally and externally sourced parts. Mentors and trains junior manufacturing engineers, providing guidance on best practices and technical expertise. Leads cross-functional project teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement new technologies.
Minimum experience:
Bachelors degree University degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering Minimum of 5-7 years manufacturing environment experience with exposure to metal fabrication, finishing, welding equipment, assembly and processes Lean Six Sigma certification preferred Proven track record of leading projects and mentoring junior engineers Computer Skills- Advanced proficiency in CAD Systems (Inventor preferred), ERP applications (Syteline preferred), and Microsoft Office to create coherent documentation for other professionals or for reference. - Extensive knowledge of stainless-steel material specifications, machining, and fabrication procedures. Lean Manufacturing Concepts
- In-depth knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing & 5S methodology. Technical
- Advanced understanding of drawing layout schemes and protocols including views, sections, tolerances, symbols, notes, etc., to evaluate technical merit and/or costs of manufacturing methods, procedures, and processes. Mathematical
- Proficient in the principles of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and other topics in mathematics for analysis, design, and troubleshooting. Determining material, labor, and overhead constituents of product cost. Complex Problem Solving
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex technical information, specifications, drawings, and processes and implement solutions while dealing with several issues at once, from workers' safety to quality assurance. Communication
- Excellent communication skills to convey a complete understanding of complex production processes, practices, and techniques. Judgment and Decision Making
- Strong ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Teamwork
- Ability to work with other professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds to serve as a bridge between the technical and business sides of the organization.
