Job Description

Crispin Valve is seeking a degreed Mechanical Engineer to serve as a primary quality assurance authority for our make-to-order product lines. This role is responsible for ensuring that all MTO finished products fully conforms to sales order requirements and Crispin Valve finished product quality standards, from order review through final acceptance. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep familiarity with fluid control products, the ability to interpret complex customer specifications, and the discipline to build and maintain the quality systems that support consistent, reliable output. Key Responsibilities
  • Review incoming make-to-order sales orders against customer specifications before release to production
  • Identify and resolve ambiguities or conflicts in customer requirements before they reach the shop floor
  • Serve as the authoritative reference for what a finished product must conform to for each order Finished Product Quality Assurance
  • Own final acceptance of MTO products, verifying conformance to both customer specifications and Crispin Valve quality standards before shipment
  • Document and maintain final acceptance criteria and inspection procedures for MTO product lines
  • Conduct or oversee functional testing, including pressure testing, seat leakage, and performance verification as applicable
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and certificates of conformance Work Instructions & Quality Documentation
  • Develop and maintain assembly instructions and quality checkpoints tied to specific product and order requirements
  • Build and improve SOPs for recurring MTO product families, ensuring quality standards are embedded at each stage of assembly
  • Ensure documentation is current, accessible, and followed consistently through to final completion Assembly Team Training
  • Provide ongoing training to mechanical assembly team members on quality standards, assembly procedures, and order-specific requirements
  • Develop and maintain training materials that reflect current SOPs and accepted practices
  • Conduct regular reviews with the assembly team to reinforce standards, address recurring errors, and communicate changes to procedures
  • Treat training as a continuous responsibility, not a one-time event, adjusting content as products, processes, and quality findings evolve Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Work with the Quality Control Manager on cause analysis for non-conformances, rework events, and customer returns
  • Close the loop between quality failures and updated procedures, instructions, or standards
  • Track and report on key quality metrics: rework rate, first-pass yield, cost of non-conformance
  • Drive systematic reduction in errors that originate from incomplete order interpretation or insufficient final inspection Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline required Experience - Required
  • 2+ years of engineering experience with a quality assurance focus in an industrial or process manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with assembly and final product acceptance in a make-to-order or job shop environment
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, GD&T, and complex customer specifications
  • Experience defining and executing final inspection and acceptance test procedures
  • Experience training or developing hourly or skilled trade team members on procedures and quality standards
  • Structured approach to root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, fishbone, or equivalent) Experience - Preferred
  • Background in valve, fluid control, or related industrial product manufacturing
  • Familiarity with flow control applications: oil and gas, water/wastewater, HVAC, or industrial process
  • Experience with pressure testing, seat leakage testing, or functional acceptance testing of fluid control products
  • Familiarity with industry standards relevant to valve manufacturing (API, ASME, MSS, or similar)
  • Experience building quality systems in an environment transitioning from informal to documented practices
