Etters, PA Amphenol High Speed Products Group is a market leader in high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market. We are seeking a Manager, Test Development Engineering to join our Cable Backplane Systems team in Etters, PA. The Test Development Engineering Manager is responsible for leading test development activities for next-generation high-speed interconnect products. This role manages engineering execution, develops and deploys robust test solutions, supports new product introduction (NPI), and drives consistent test methods, automation, validation, and production readiness across assigned programs and manufacturing sites.RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate combines strong technical expertise in high-speed interconnect testing with people leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and program management skills.Key Responsibilities:
Test Development Leadership- Lead development of advanced electrical and functional test systems for high-speed connector and cable assembly products.
- Oversee architecture, design, validation, documentation, and deployment of automated test equipment (ATE).
- Develop and maintain test standards for coverage, repeatability, measurement accuracy, equipment calibration, data integrity, and reliability validation.
- Drive Design for Test (DFT) activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Support technology planning for next-generation electrical and optical interconnect test capabilities. Program Management
- Manage multiple NPI test development programs from concept through manufacturing release.
- Establish project milestones, resource plans, technical priorities, risk mitigation actions, and status reporting.
- Coordinate test engineering activities with regional and global engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Ensure successful transfer, qualification, and sustainment of test solutions in manufacturing.
- Build and maintain roadmaps for test platforms, automation, instrumentation, and software infrastructure within the assigned organization. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Engineering, Signal Integrity Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Global Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Engineering, and strategic customers.
- Ensure test solutions support product performance, manufacturability, quality, capacity, and customer requirements.
- Communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, schedules, and readiness clearly to engineering and business stakeholders. Technology & Continuous Improvement
- Lead implementation and practical application of emerging test technologies, including 224G/448G PAM4 architectures, high-speed channel validation, automated measurement systems, data analytics, AI-assisted test optimization, and test software modernization.
- Apply statistical process control and predictive quality methodologies to improve test effectiveness and manufacturing performance.
- Drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement across test development processes. People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop Test Development Engineers and technical contributors.
- Set clear priorities, objectives, and performance expectations for the team.
- Build technical capability through mentoring, training, knowledge sharing, and competency development.
- Foster collaboration across engineering functions and international sites.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field required; Master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of engineering experience in electronics, interconnect, test development, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience leading engineers, technical teams, or complex engineering programs.
- Experience supporting new product introduction and high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, resources, schedules, and technical risks across multiple programs.
- Experience collaborating across functions, sites, and regions in a global engineering environment is preferred.
