The Senior Systems Design Engineer leads the design and development of complex electronic, embedded, digital, analog, and electromechanical systems. This role manages projects from conceptual design through development, testing, manufacturing support, and failure analysis while collaborating with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams. The Senior Systems Design Engineer also leads design reviews, develops test fixtures and procedures, supports proposal development, and provides technical mentorship to engineers and technicians. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of analog, digital, embedded, and electromechanical systems, including embedded software and LabVIEW applications. Manage complex engineering projects and multiple concurrent projects from concept through completion. Develop preliminary designs, define components and requirements, and guide CAD/CAE activities. Lead design reviews, customer technical discussions, bid proposal development, and test fixture/procedure development. Collaborate with purchasing, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other stakeholders to meet customer requirements and project schedules. Lead multidisciplinary failure analysis and root cause investigations. Provide engineering support to manufacturing to ensure accurate procedures and work instructions. Mentor and coach engineers while providing technical leadership across the engineering organization. Required Qualifications & Technical Expertise Bachelor's degree in a related technical field with 7 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 5 years of relevant experience. Strong experience in electronic circuit design, including advanced analog and digital circuit theory. Advanced knowledge of embedded systems, software development, schematics, wiring diagrams, and electromechanical systems. Experience with 3D design tools, preferably SolidWorks, as well as networking technologies such as Ethernet and TCP/IP. Ability to troubleshoot analog, digital, embedded, and PC hardware systems to the component level. Strong experience with schematic capture, electrical design, prototyping, root cause analysis, and technical documentation. Strong problem-solving, communication, project management, meeting facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects, work with a high level of accuracy, and develop solutions to complex technical challenges.
