Full-time Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving manufacturability into product development and designing and controlling the systems used to manufacture our products. This role involves designing manufacturing processes and maintaining process documentation, developing tooling and fixtures and ownership of New Product Development to serial production. Responsibilities:
Design Development and Improvement:
o Support design development activities by reviewing, analyzing, and providing input on new designs for parts, components, and assemblies regarding manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost reduction. o Review and provide input to improve the manufacturability of existing parts and assemblies. o Own the development of efficient manufacturing processes for new products o Support the assembly of prototypes to supplied engineering documentation and work instructions.
Manufacturing Process Development:
o Develop and create improved manufacturing processes and procedures to streamline production, reduce assembly time, increase efficiency, and reduce costs. o Create, manage, and maintain process documentation, including process maps, MBOM's, PFMEA's, Control Plans and Work Instructions for parts, sub-assemblies, and top-level assemblies. o Lead capital equipment justification, ROI analysis, design/development, planning and commissioning of new production systems/equipment
Tooling and Fixture Management:
o Create, develop, and deploy required tooling, tools, fixtures and gages for machining, assembly, quality and testing. o Manage and maintain the tooling and fixture drawing library. o Maintain tools, tooling, and fixture integrity through routine maintenance and the development of life limits.
New Product Introduction:
o Own the transition of New Product Development (NPD) to New Product Introduction (NPI), validating that processes are capable and controlled, personnel are trained and products conform to quality requirements o Provide ongoing program support to Operations through NPI and Serial Production BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of applicable experience, with more experienced candidates encouraged to apply. Experience in a machined part and assembly environment; strong manufacturing operations knowledge. Knowledge of CAD modeling software required, including Catia, ProE, Fusion 360 / Inventor; SolidWorks preferred Knowledge of Lean methodologies and Lean implementation preferred. Application of best practices in an ISO/AS environment preferred. Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, section views, assembly drawings, tolerances, fits, and clearances. Strong mechanical assembly experience and knowledge, including close tolerances and fits, tooling, fixturing, and automation. Knowledge of materials (aluminum, stainless steels, tool steels, plastics, polymers) and material properties. Knowledge of mechanical fasteners, seals, tool design, and fixturing. Strong work ethic and ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Ability to work independently and as a self-starter. Detail-oriented. Flexibility with regards to work schedule, supporting tight timelines, and development objectives. Ability to work cross functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Procurement, Sales and Finance Excellent communication and presentation skills.
