Your impact The Associate Primary Design Engineer will provide consultancy engineering services (including the role of Lead Engineer) in the Energy & Power market across the APAC region. As an Associate Primary Design Engineer within Jacobs Professional Global Career Structure, you will require specialized depth and/or breadth of experience in your technical discipline. You will interpret internal and external business issues and recommend best practices, solve complex problems, take a broad perspective to identify different solutions and guide others in resolving complex issues in your specialized area. You will work with guidance while running functional teams and/or projects. Through regular industry participation, you will assist in developing strong relationships with our focus clients. You will lead and support bids; as part of this you will often work collaboratively with multidisciplinary, multi-geolocated teams. You will be responsible for project delivery, design & project management, and for positioning and winning projects involving a range of services. The role will be instrumental in collaborating with commercial, project management and technical leaders to create opportunities for Jacobs to plan, develop, deliver and operate a range of projects. Key to this role will be the interface with GID delivery centers to improve delivery capability to meet targets. You will support your PU to ensure it can thrive in a global setting, encouraging cross-geography relationships to maximize the benefit of global delivery to our clients and our people. Key responsibilities are ; Primary plant layout and equipment location (clearances, maintainability, operability) Primary design, scoping, and specification of HV and MV assets (substations, lines, and cables) Proficiency in reading and producing electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for electrical systems (HV, MV and LV) Technology selection (AIS, GIS, Hybrid) HV and MV switchgear specification Substations contamination and risk impacts (oily water sewer systems, fire protection systems) Trade off studies Value Engineering Technical stewardship (Safety in Design, Technical Integrity, Sustainable Design) Secondary and protection systems Interdisciplinary collaboration and a deep understanding of associated interfaces (geotechnical, civil, structural, secondary, protection, SCADA) 3D design/modelling and intelligent MTO/BOM extraction Electrical system analysis (load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, earthing) Lighting design and report preparation Clear understanding of clearances in and around substations Ratting of plant and equipment and conductors Producing switchyard labels report and drawings Procurement support (data sheets, technical specifications, technical bid review/analysis) Construction support (scoping, specification, construction sequencing) Business case support (technical, costing input etc.) Familiarity with application of relevant standards:
AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008, AS 2067
Capability to make electrical design decisions and recommendations under challenging circumstances Here's what you'll need With a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. In-depth knowledge of HV substation design principles, industry standards, and regulations. Familiarity with protection and control systems is advantageous. Proficiency in using design and simulation, calculation software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Registered with the Board of Engineers in Malaysia Familiar with project technical management processes, preferably in a multi-disciplinary team's context with multiple interfaces Logical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a solution-driven approach Excellent excel skills (data analysis, macros, reporting) Professional engineering certifications (CPEng, NER, RPEQ, RPEV) or could acquire such certifications within a reasonably short period of time Candidates must have valid work authorization for Malaysia #ASIAPower #LI-JA3 From our inclusive employee networks to our positive mental health champions - we're committed to driving a culture of caring where you can be you.
