Job Description

Engineering Design Intern

As part of the comprehensive internship program, interns will participate in events which help them build a strong network within the SJI community and with fellow interns. Interns enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work environment throughout this 11-week summer program. The Ignite Internship Program also offers participants mentorship, educational seminars, volunteer opportunities, and visibility within the organization.



As a summer intern with Elizabethtown Gas, your role as an Engineering Intern will include assisting Design Engineers by working on various projects and initiatives to help the organization continue to grow while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Essential Functions:
  • Collect, research and interpret existing facility records as part of the design process.
  • Perform design of various types of natural gas distribution projects.
  • Create construction plans using AutoCAD.
  • Field/site visits to construction projects.
  • Organize documents and analyze data.
  • Perform other special projects and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Background:
  • Completion of at least 2 years of coursework toward earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil preferred).
  • Knowledge of PC-based applications.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or other computer assisted design software.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills required.
