Manufacturing Quality Engineer - Greenfield, IN Due to current and expected growth in volume and product offerings, as well as investment in new technologies, we are expanding our staff. The quality engineer will provide support and improvement of internal manufacturing processes. The quality engineer will work with cross disciplinary teams to improve quality and productivity targets through quality assurance planning and continual improvement initiatives. Daily support will include technical problem solving, quality system implementation and auditing, new product launch management and internal/external supplier corrective actions. This position reports to the site Quality Manager.
What You Will Do:
Solves or directs efforts to solve complex product quality and process related problems. Acts as voice of customer through new product development projects. Recommends internal or vendor design, manufacturing and quality control changes to improve quality and reliability. Gather and analyze product and process data for reporting improvement items. Develops and applies quality analysis tools, as applicable, for effective root cause analysis and correction action methods. Scope of work includes interaction with external suppliers, operations, manufacturing systems, design, marketing, customer care, and end users. Develops and maintains quality related documentation including process maps, PFMEA, control plans, standard operating procedures, etc. Set-up, program, and operate a laser scanning arm to verify components and assemblies May occasionally support end-user problem solving visits Serve as subject matter expert and internal auditor for ISO9001 based quality system Interface on regular basis with on-site and remote design/engineering functions Limited supervisor duties as projects dictate Other duties as assigned What You Need to
Succeed:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field required 5-8 years of Quality Engineering experience of increasing responsibility in the areas of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supplier Quality Management, or related field, including at least 2 years of direct manufacturing, in plant experience Demonstrated program management experience and in-depth process improvement and problem-solving experience (including expertise with tools and processes such as APQP, Lean, Six Sigma, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, VAVE, etc.) Use of standard measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, scale, height gage, etc.) Knowledge and use of Polyworks software (or similar CMM/IMM software) Lead auditor or competence within
ISO-9001/TS-16949/AS 9100
quality systems Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and statistical software Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and influence in a matrix organization Active knowledge of high-volume manufacturing, assembly and distribution Fluent in English (spoken and written); Bilingual considered a strong asset Minimal travel Why Work for Us?
