Microvellum Engineer Drafter CCI Group | Longview, Texas | Remote Opportunity Position Summary Ready to turn blueprints into reality? Let's build something great together. Do you enjoy transforming architectural plans into precise, production-ready designs? Are you passionate about technical drafting, custom millwork, and solving manufacturing challenges? CCI Group is looking for a detail-oriented Microvellum Engineer Drafter to help bring our custom casework, architectural millwork, fixtures, and furniture projects to life. At CCI Group, we believe in more than simply completing a job. We are committed to quality, integrity, craftsmanship, and helping our customers Experience the Difference. In this role, you will work closely with Estimating, Project Management, Design and Drafting, and Production to move projects through the full engineering lifecycle—from initial submittal drawings to production engineering and ongoing shop-floor support. Using AutoCAD, Microvellum, and related manufacturing tools, you will translate architectural plans, specifications, approved revisions, and field conditions into accurate drawings, engineering data, and machine-ready output. The ideal candidate understands cabinet construction and manufacturing processes, pays close attention to revision control, and can identify and resolve technical issues before they lead to production delays, unnecessary costs, or rework. Key Responsibilities Pre-Production Engineering Review architectural drawings, specifications, elevations, schedules, and project documents to identify scope requirements, dimensions, materials, finishes, hardware, and construction details. Coordinate with Estimators and Project Managers to clarify project requirements, resolve design questions, and confirm that the engineering approach aligns with the approved scope. Prepare accurate 2D submittal drawings using AutoCAD and applicable Microvellum tools, including plans, elevations, sections, dimensions, notes, and details needed for customer and design-team review. Identify missing information, dimensional conflicts, constructability concerns, and other discrepancies before drawings are submitted or released for production. Incorporate customer, architect, and consultant comments into revised drawings while maintaining accurate revision history and document control. Develop practical, manufacturable designs using CCI's construction methods, materials, hardware, and established product libraries. Consider applicable Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) standards, project specifications, accessibility requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other applicable state and federal requirements. Production Engineering and Release Finalize engineering drawings and production details based on approved submittals, verified field measurements, actual site conditions, and authorized project revisions. Resolve outstanding engineering questions and address new issues arising from field conditions, installation requirements, or production challenges. Use Microvellum and AutoCAD to develop and refine engineered assemblies for custom cabinetry, casework, architectural millwork, fixtures, and specialty products. Apply appropriate construction methods, materials, hardware, joinery, dimensions, and machining requirements to ensure products can be manufactured accurately and efficiently. Work with existing Microvellum product libraries and adapt established products as needed. Develop custom or parametric engineering solutions for nonstandard products when the project requires them and the candidate's skill level supports that work. Generate, review, and validate applicable bills of materials, cut lists, part details, labels, machining data, CNC programs, and other manufacturing documentation. Verify that machine programs and production outputs align with the engineered design, material requirements, equipment capabilities, and established CCI procedures. Maintain accurate version tracking so that current, approved drawings, programs, and production documentation are clearly identified and available to the appropriate team members. Coordinate with Project Management and Production to ensure that required information is complete, consistent, and available before manufacturing begins. Identify opportunities to improve material utilization, reduce waste, simplify construction, and increase manufacturing efficiency without compromising quality or project requirements. Post-Production Engineering Support Provide ongoing technical support to the Production team as products move through manufacturing and assembly. Respond to questions regarding assembly methods, drawing details, dimensions, hardware, machining requirements, and design intent. Investigate and diagnose faulty or unexpected CNC program output, machining issues, and other engineering-related production problems. Troubleshoot discrepancies between engineering documentation and actual production conditions, determining appropriate corrections and coordinating changes with affected team members. Evaluate proposed design or program changes for their potential impact on materials, quality, manufacturing efficiency, schedules, and previously released documentation. Correct and update drawings, programs, and engineering data as needed, ensuring affected documents and outputs remain consistent. Communicate recurring technical issues and recommend improvements to product libraries, engineering methods, templates, and production workflows. Collaborate with Estimating, Project Management, Design and Drafting, and Production to support timely issue resolution and continuous improvement. Project Documentation and Workflow Follow CCI's established procedures for project documentation, file organization, document naming, revision control, and release approvals. Maintain accurate and current engineering information across applicable systems, including Microvellum and INNERGY. Coordinate with Project Managers and other designated team members to ensure project information, approved changes, and required documentation are communicated and stored appropriately. Verify that applicable project identifiers, revisions, material information, and production documentation are consistent across relevant systems. Communicate missing information, unresolved questions, and potential workflow delays to the appropriate team members. Support continuous improvement in engineering accuracy, documentation practices, manufacturing efficiency, and the flow of information from estimating through production. Qualifications and Requirements Professional experience in CAD drafting, cabinetry, architectural millwork, casework, furniture manufacturing, or a closely related field. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D drafting, including dimensions, annotations, layouts, drawing organization, and revision management. Experience with Microvellum or comparable cabinet and millwork design-to-manufacturing software, with the ability to demonstrate relevant technical skills. Working knowledge of cabinet construction, materials, hardware, joinery, and manufacturing methods. Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, elevations, sections, and construction details. Strong understanding of dimensional accuracy, clearances, tolerances, constructability, and manufacturability. Ability to identify design conflicts, ask appropriate questions, and develop practical solutions before issues affect production. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to document revisions and communicate technical information clearly. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and work independently while coordinating with a distributed team. Commitment to accuracy, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with Microvellum in a commercial casework, architectural millwork, cabinetry, or furniture manufacturing environment. Experience developing submittal drawings and production-ready shop drawings for healthcare, education, commercial, office, or similar projects. Experience working with existing Microvellum product libraries and adapting standard products to meet project requirements. Advanced experience with parametric engineering, custom product development, product-library configuration, or engineering logic. Experience generating and validating CNC programs, machining data, cut lists, bills of materials, and other manufacturing outputs. Familiarity with INNERGY ERP or other manufacturing ERP systems and the relationship between engineering data, job costing, purchasing, and production scheduling. Familiarity with AWI standards, ADA accessibility requirements, and applicable architectural woodwork and project compliance requirements. Knowledge of material optimization, nesting, hardware selection, and value-engineering principles. Experience coordinating with Project Managers, Estimators, Production teams, architects, contractors, or other project stakeholders. Familiarity with 3D modeling or Revit when applicable to specific product lines or project requirements. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means delivering accurate, complete, and manufacturable engineering information that allows CCI to move projects from approved submittals through production and assembly with fewer avoidable delays, discrepancies, and rework.
The successful candidate will:
