Leader in manufacturing medical tubing for life saving vascular catheters and minimally invasive medical devices seeking dedicated team member responsible for design and manufacture of profile extrusion tooling and the development of custom plastic extrusion processes with the objective of improving total quality, material usage and productivity. Communicate with internal stakeholders to develop concepts, identify feasibility of projects and research equipment necessary. Design tooling and develop processes, using computer aided design software, for tube extrusion, braided wire and coiled wire reinforced tube extrusion, wire coating, coextrusion, multi-channel tube extrusion, multi-layer extrusion, reinforced extrusion, and extrusion. Lead new tooling development processes using hands-on approach to meet customer expectations. Oversee the tool making activities in the machine shop, ensuring that the tools produced by the machine shop meet the design criteria and are up to the company's high standard for design and workmanship. Perform material tests on medical polymers, thermoplastics, nylon, polyethylene, polyester, polyether ether ketone (PEEK), fluoropolymer, polyimide imide monomers, biodegradable and bioresorbable scaffolds. Troubleshoot manufacturing process and equipment problems and coordinate repairs. Manufactured products include medical tubing, dilators and sheaths, surgical delivery systems, stents, shaft liners, medical optics, etc. Work is highly valued and critical to the manufacturing process.
