Spherion is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, quality, safety, productivity, and on-time performance. This position will support precision metal fabrication and mechanical assembly operations while working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency and product quality. The Manufacturing Engineer will use expertise in product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, and quality standards to identify opportunities for improvement and resolve manufacturing challenges. This role reports directly to company leadership and has the authority to stop work when necessary to address safety or manufacturing concerns.

Program CNC turret punches and generate flat layouts for sheet metal parts and mechanical assemblies using CAD/CAM software.

Create CNC programs from blueprints and 3D models while meeting specified dimensions and tolerances.

Review drawings, blueprints, and 3D models for engineering changes and update programs as needed. ...

Document critical manufacturing details such as grain direction, hardware color coding, and symmetry on office and shop floor prints.

Design and create original blueprints for new projects and custom engineering applications.

Collaborate with Sales, Estimating, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Production teams during new product development.

Audit job tickets for revision levels, dates, quantities, material specifications, and job setup accuracy.

Improve production processes to reduce scrap and maximize raw material utilization.

Troubleshoot equipment and production processes to improve machine uptime and workforce productivity.

Analyze engineering drawings and manufacturing plans for potential failure modes and recommend practical solutions.

Review repeat-job routings and manufacturing notes to identify and correct recurring production issues.

Support sheet metal fabrication processes, including CNC turret punching, press brake forming, hardware insertion, resistance welding, and MIG/TIG welding.

Implement lean manufacturing practices and engineering improvements to reduce waste, delays, and operating costs.

Calculate laser processing times, blank dimensions, and material yields for cost estimating.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe engineering work environment.

Identify production bottlenecks and safety concerns and communicate issues to management.

Participate in corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Make independent engineering decisions based on manufacturing best practices and customer quality requirements.

Maintain current technical knowledge through continuing education, industry publications, professional networks, and manufacturing improvement programs.

Exercise stop-work authority when an immediate safety or manufacturing concern is identified.

PM Skills:

Experience specifically in precision sheet metal fabrication or precision machining.

Experience programming CNC turret punches.

Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, Mastercam, or similar CAD/CAM platforms.

Experience with JobBOSS or Job
