Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer We are looking for a hands-on manufacturing engineer in Spartanburg, SC to be the go-to problem solver on our manufacturing floor.
This is an electronics-first role:
you'll spend your days diagnosing the electronic side of our equipment and products - components, circuit boards, sensors, wiring, and test systems, and using what you learn to make our processes faster, cleaner, and more repeatable. This is also a rare front-row seat. You will work directly on some of the most advanced sensory technologies in the world, with a first-person view into how they are designed, developed, and tested, not from a spec sheet, but hands-on with the real hardware as it's built and validated. Few roles let an engineer stand this close to state-of-the-art electronic products and shape how they come to life on the floor. This position will also drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process standardization, waste reduction, SOP development, and overall operational performance. You will work in a high-mix, low-volume environment where no two days look the same, partnering closely with operators, technicians, and our quality, design, and supply chain teams. If you like being where the work actually happens- hands on equipment, tracing a fault to its root, and then fixing the process so it doesn't come back- this role is built for you. What you will do- Keep daily production moving for our electronics-based products, assemblies, and test processes
- Troubleshoot electronic issues at the source: components, circuit boards, sensors, wiring, and test equipment
- Jump in alongside operators and technicians to resolve problems quickly on the floor
- Run root-cause analysis on defects, test failures, and process variation—then put lasting corrective actions in place
- Support testing and validation of electronic components and assemblies in the production environment
- Improve and standardize manufacturing processes, work instructions, test procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Strengthen the site's troubleshooting capability by coaching teams and sharpening diagnostic methods
- Support new product introduction, product transfers, and engineering changes into production
- Find and eliminate sources of rework, waste, and lost flow
- Use production, test, and quality data to prioritize improvements and measure whether they worked
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, training materials, and process documentation to improve consistency, quality, and operational effectiveness. What you will bring (required)
- Hands-on experience supporting a live manufacturing or production environment
- Strong electrical/electronic troubleshooting skills—diagnosing faults across components, assemblies, wiring, circuit boards, and test systems
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field).
- Working experience with electronic components, electromechanical assemblies, sensors, controls, or industrial electronics
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and test procedures
- Experience with root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and production issue resolution
- A practical, roll-up-your-sleeves approach and the ability to work across production, quality, and engineering teams
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume environment Nice to have (preferred)
- 2-5 years in manufacturing, production, test, or electrical engineering (or a closely related technical role)
- Background in an electronics-heavy manufacturing environment
- Experience with industrial measurement, sensing, instrumentation, controls, or automation products
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, standard work, visual management, and structured problem solving
- Experience with test equipment, fixtures, and production test methods
- Familiarity with ERP, MES, or quality/production data systems
- Experience coaching operators and technicians on troubleshooting and process standards What success looks like In your first year, floor issues get resolved faster and with a clear understanding of why they happened.
