Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer Location:
Dayton, Tennessee (no relocation offered for this position) Position Summary The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving the safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance of fabrication and assembly operations through Lean Manufacturing, process engineering, automation, and capital project execution. This role partners cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, Supply Chain, and Product Engineering to develop robust manufacturing processes and support new product launches. Core Responsibilities Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis. Support sheet metal stamping, fiber laser cutting, CNC press brake forming, welding, fabrication, powder coating, manufacturing assembly, and finishing operations. Develop standardized work, PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions, visual management, and process documentation. Lead capital equipment, tooling, automation, robotics/cobot, and material handling projects from concept through implementation. Design and improve workstations, fixtures, gauges, ergonomic solutions, and manufacturing cells. Partner with EHS to incorporate machine guarding, risk assessments, lockout/tagout, ergonomics, and regulatory compliance into all manufacturing projects. Support new product introduction, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), capacity planning, and production readiness. Analyze KPIs including SQDC, OEE, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency, and throughput to identify improvement opportunities. Lead Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and waste elimination activities. Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering to sustain process improvements. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience). 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or manufacturing support role. Desired Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of sheet metal stamping, fiber laser cutting, CNC press brakes, welding, fabrication, powder coating, manufacturing assembly, and finishing processes. Experience with automation, robotics/cobots, conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience designing fixtures, tooling, gauges, machine modifications, and custom manufacturing equipment. Working knowledge of PLCs, industrial electrical controls, sensors, HMIs, and troubleshooting. Experience leading capital projects and equipment installations. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification preferred. Strong communication, project management and cross-functional leadership skills.

This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, as well as using hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms. This is a full-time position on a 4-10 hour work schedule (Mon-Thurs). Due to the nature and demands of this role, flexibility is required to work outside of normal work schedule.
