Job Description

Job Summary We're looking for a hands‑on Senior Automation & DFM Engineer to design robotic/automated manufacturing cells, lead quoting, manufacturability analysis, and process planning for CNC machining, fabrication, and custom automation projects. If you thrive in a job‑shop environment and love turning complex designs into efficient, cost‑effective manufacturing plans, this role is for you. Schedule Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; Occasional weekend work as needed Key Responsibilities Develop accurate cost estimates for machining, welding, fabrication, and automation builds Design robotic and automated manufacturing cells, including layouts, reach studies, cycle-time modeling and safety requirements Analyze drawings, GD&T, and specs to improve manufacturability and reduce costs Build routings, BOMs, labor standards, and cycle‑time models Define manufacturing processes, tooling, fixturing, inspection points, and test requirements Support RFQs, proposals, and customer technical discussions Identify risks, long‑lead items, and cost drivers Collaborate with machining, assembly, suppliers, and customers Lead DFM reviews and continuous improvement initiatives Mentor junior engineers and estimators Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering 5-10 years of relevant experience in design, manufacturing, and cost estimation across machining, fabrication, automation, or job‑shop operations Strong CAD software (SolidWorks) skills; CAM literacy a plus Deep understanding of GD&T, tolerances, AS9100/ITAR Experience designing or supporting robotic or automated manufacturing cells Experience with Lean, SPC, DOE, MSA/GRR Strong cost‑modeling and problem‑solving ability Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills Preferred Skills High‑mix/low‑volume job‑shop background Experience with industrial robots (Fanuc) or PLC/HMI systems Six Sigma certification Experience leading DFM or Kaizen events Why You'll Love Working Here Diverse projects: precision machining to full automation systems High impact on quoting strategy and manufacturing direction Growth opportunities in a fast‑moving, engineering‑driven company Competitive pay and benefits
