Job Description

We are seeking our next Adjunct Faculty - Advanced Manufacturing - Moore County Campus who will be all-in on our mission and who provides instruction in manufacturing technology courses supporting the Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Maintenance programs. This position prepares students for careers in modern industrial environments through instruction in manufacturing processes, industrial maintenance, electromechanical systems, and fluid power technologies. Teaching responsibilities include classroom, laboratory, online, or technology-supported instruction, as well as course preparation and maintaining competency in assigned subjects. Instruction emphasizes hands-on learning in areas such as DC and AC circuits, motor controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and industrial automation systems. This position is filled on an as need basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
EDUCATION
:
Required:
Associate's Degree or higher in Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanical Technology, or a closely related field.
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field. • Relevant industry certifications (SACA, MSSC, PMMI, FANUC, or similar electrical/mechanical certifications) and significant industry experience may substitute for formal education when appropriate.
EXPERIENCE
:
Required:
Three (3) years of recent industry experience in industrial maintenance, electromechanical systems, manufacturing technology, or a related field.
Preferred:
Five (5) or more years of industry experience including PLC programming, industrial robotics, automation systems, or advanced troubleshooting. Teaching, mentoring, or workforce training experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS
:
Preferred:
SACA, MSSC, PMMI, FANUC or related industry certifications. Teach Advanced Manufacturing courses using effective and safe instructional methods aligned with approved curriculum. Deliver instruction in classroom, laboratory, online, hybrid, and technology-supported learning environments as assigned. Provide instruction in areas such as:
Fundamental Topics :
Introduction to Direct Current (DC) Circuits, Alternating Current (AC) Circuits, Basic Mechanical Skills, Distribution Systems, Industrial Maintenance Electric Motors.
Core Program Topics :
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Motor Controls, Machinery Installation, Pumps/Compressors/Mechanical Drives, Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
Advanced Topics :
Industrial Troubleshooting, Fluid Power System Design, Mechanical Maintenance and Electromechanical Systems. Deliver instruction at Amarillo College campuses and designated off-site instructional locations such as Dumas, Hereford, partner high schools, or Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) units when assigned. Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials that incorporate hands-on learning experiences and industry-relevant practices. Prepare syllabi, course materials, laboratory activities, and instructional resources consistent with Amarillo College curriculum standards. Evaluate student learning through examinations, discussions, laboratory activities, and practical assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress. Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to students to promote academic success and workforce readiness. Maintain safe laboratory and classroom environments while ensuring compliance with industry safety standards and college safety procedures. Participate in faculty orientations, meetings, and training as required. Assist with curriculum review and program improvement efforts by sharing industry knowledge and emerging workforce trends when requested. Perform other work-related duties as required. Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to move between offices, classrooms, and laboratory facilities. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or maneuver instructional equipment and supplies up to twenty-five (25) pounds as necessary. Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, machinery, and varying temperatures typical of laboratory or industrial training environments.
Working Conditions:
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary).
Work Environment:
This position operates within classroom, laboratory, and technical training environments. The employee routinely uses instructional technology, industrial equipment, and standard office equipment including computers, phones, and instructional software. Work may occasionally be performed outside of the office environment and may involve supervision of laboratory activities with minimal direct supervision.
