Requisition Summary
Peterbilt's Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer focused on truck software development and deployment. The successful candidate will be dynamic, driven, and energized to create and own manufacturing processes and infrastructure supporting truck software launches. Experience leading successful startup or launch projects and working across multiple departments and levels of management is highly desired in this role.
Job Responsibilities
Actively participate in the truck software development and launch process
Provide manufacturing input throughout software development, testing, and factory system readiness
Maintain familiarity with truck software deployed in production, including MX, Cummins, DAVIE, VEPS, Eaton, Allison, Bendix, Wabco, VECU, CALID/CVN, ELF, Parameters, and EMUX architecture
Interface with software providers including Embedded Engineering, MX/DAF, and external suppliers
Remain current on upcoming software changes and assess impact to plant processes
Communicate regularly with plant management and coordinate plant input and feedback
Track and report critical software deployment metrics including readiness, defects, FirstPass Yield (FPY), documentation, and communication effectiveness
Drive Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and implement countermeasures to improve future truck software deployments
Document issues in HPQC and PLR systems
Develop manufacturing processes and predictive metrics for program and project readiness prior to production implementation
Review and approve engineering software drawings
Support and actively participate in the PCP Tollgate process
Initiate and lead Six Sigma process improvement projects
Travel to other PACCAR locations may be required (less than 10%)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Seven (7) or more years of engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
Manufacturing, industrial engineering, or designformanufacturability experience
Demonstrated ability to lead successful projects as a highly motivated selfstarter
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Experience with the following is a plus: PACCAR manufacturing operations and PCP Tollgate process
Heavy equipment manufacturing
Truck programming systems (DAVIE, VEPS, VSP, EMUX architecture)
Truck diagnostics tools (DAVIE, Insite, Acom, Service Ranger, Allison, Wabco)
Project management methodologies
Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt preferred)
Microsoft Office products
Creo and Windchill
