Production Manager Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer supports Propell, a VoltaGrid company, by developing and improving manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and workflows. This role provides hands-on engineering support for machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly operations and helps implement automated manufacturing processes. The position partners with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering to resolve production issues, support new product introduction, and deliver measurable improvements in productivity, quality, cycle time, and cost.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, process flow diagrams, standard work, and shop-floor work instructions. Provide day-to-day engineering support to production; troubleshoot manufacturing problems and implement practical corrective actions. Partner with Design Engineering and production teams to improve manufacturability and support new product introduction. Develop tooling, fixtures, layouts, and workflows that improve production efficiency and support safe manufacturing operations. Evaluate manufacturing equipment and support installation and startup with equipment vendors and automation integrators. Lead Lean and Six Sigma improvement projects to reduce waste, resolve bottlenecks, improve quality, and lower manufacturing costs. Measure and document process performance and improvement results, including productivity and cycle-time changes. Coordinate cross-functional improvement activities and prioritize engineering work according to production needs. Follow company safety procedures and support effective implementation of new manufacturing processes.
Other Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline. 3-5+ years of relevant engineering experience, including practical manufacturing process development, production support, and continuous improvement. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification. Demonstrated ability to apply Lean methods and translate improvement concepts into measurable shop-floor results. Proficiency in process flow diagrams, technical documentation, work instructions, and measurement of process improvements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of ERP systems. Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills. Work Environment and Safety Work with manufacturing teams on the production floor and in an engineering office setting. Complete required OSHA and company safety training and follow applicable protective equipment requirements. Provide steel-toe footwear and applicable job tools.
