Job Description

Job Title:
Mechanisms Engineer Job Description The Mechanisms Engineer will provide manufacturing and test engineering support during the production phases, ensuring integration and verification are efficiently executed. The role requires leading mechanism-level and subsystem-level tests, as well as developing testing requirements, materials, processes, and tooling for various tests such as vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum (TVAC) assembly. This position involves executing design and analysis tasks using sound engineering principles, participating in trade studies, and providing inputs to optimize manufacturing processes. Responsibilities Provide engineering support to Production during build, integration, and verification phases. Lead mechanism-level and subsystem-level tests and develop testing requirements and processes. Participate in and execute design, analysis, and system trade studies for mechanism assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) strategies. Provide inputs to Design Engineering to optimize manufacturing flow, cost, and layout. Prepare detailed product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data. Execute design and analysis using sound engineering principles while adhering to company standards and program requirements. Troubleshoot and investigate anomalies and failures, perform root-cause analysis, and drive resolution. Participate in iterative mechanism design improvements based on findings in test and production. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in aerospace or precision hardware assembly/test. Experience with aerospace manufacturing and space flight mechanisms. Proficiency in mechanical and aerospace engineering principles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with space-qualified mechanisms such as release devices, actuators, hinges, latches, and deployment systems. Familiarity with root cause and corrective action (RCCA) methodologies and nonconformance resolution. Working knowledge of
ECAD/MCAD
integration, configuration control, and product data management systems. Experience in supporting vibration, shock, and TVAC test campaigns. Understanding of cleanroom practices and contamination control.
Preferred certifications:
IPC-A-610/J-STD-001, NASA or
ECSS-Q-ST-70
standards, AS9100, Six Sigma. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven problem-solving mindset. Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Proficient in CAD tools such as AutoDesk Inventor, SolidWorks, NX, or Creo, and FEA experience is a plus. Experience with data/documentation systems like Fusion or equivalent PDM/PLM tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and LabVIEW or similar test/data acquisition systems. Work Environment This is an on-site role located in Midland/Odessa, Texas. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package with salary, stipend, relocation assistance, and stock options. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $120000.00/yr. Client will pay competitive salary, plus stipend of $1,050 a month, relocation up to 10K, stock and hotel stay for up to 3 months Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Midland,TX.
