Special Purpose Machinery / FMCG / Conveyors / Automation The Role We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a small, established engineering business specialising in bespoke machinery, conveyor systems and production line solutions for the FMCG sector. This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of projects from initial customer requirements through SolidWorks design, manufacture, installation and commissioning . You will also provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and work closely with customers, manufacturing and project teams. Key Responsibilities Take mechanical design projects from concept through to manufacture and installation. Produce 3D models, assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks . Design bespoke machinery, conveyors, guarding, platforms and automated equipment. Visit customer sites to understand requirements and develop practical engineering solutions. Support production line relocation, machinery modification and upgrade projects. Provide technical support throughout manufacture, installation and commissioning. Work closely with Project Engineers, customers and manufacturing teams. Review designs and provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers. Resolve design and manufacturing issues throughout the project lifecycle. The Ideal Candidate Strong SolidWorks mechanical design experience. Background within special purpose machinery, conveyors, automation, material handling or production machinery . Experience taking projects from concept through detailed design, manufacture and installation. Strong understanding of practical engineering and manufacturing processes. Comfortable visiting customer sites and discussing technical requirements. Able to work independently and take ownership of projects. Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers would be advantageous. FMCG, food & beverage, packaging or similar machinery experience would be beneficial. Apply Now Share This Post
