Job Description

Develops and analyzes aluminum casting simulations using MAGMASOFT and CAD software to optimize gating and risering systems, predict solidification behavior, reduce casting defects, and improve foundry manufacturing processes. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 1-3 years of experience in casting simulation, foundry engineering, or metal casting process development. Hands-on experience using
MAGMASOFT
for casting simulation and solidification analysis. Experience using CAD software to create and modify casting models, gating systems, and tooling designs. Knowledge of aluminum casting processes, molten metal flow, mold filling, and solidification behavior. Understanding of gating and risering design principles. Knowledge of common casting defects, including porosity, shrinkage, and misruns. Experience interpreting casting simulation results and identifying potential manufacturing defects. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Knowledge of casting process parameters, manufacturing controls, and defect prevention techniques. Preferred Skills Experience working in an aluminum foundry or metal casting manufacturing environment. Experience using
MAGMASOFT
to optimize casting designs and manufacturing processes. Experience with iron or steel casting simulation and solidification modeling. Knowledge of casting tooling design, pattern development, and mold manufacturing. Experience coordinating casting tooling development with pattern shops and external suppliers. Familiarity with nondestructive testing (NDT/NDE), including radiographic inspection, X-ray inspection, and liquid penetrant testing. Experience performing casting defect analysis and root cause investigations. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience developing casting process controls and manufacturing work instructions. Experience supporting new casting development and production launch activities. Job Responsibilities Develop and execute casting simulations using
MAGMASOFT
to evaluate mold filling, molten metal flow, and solidification behavior. Design and optimize gating and risering systems using CAD software. Analyze simulation results to identify potential casting defects, including porosity, shrinkage, misruns, and incomplete mold filling. Recommend modifications to casting designs, gating layouts, riser configurations, and manufacturing parameters to improve casting quality. Create and modify 3D CAD models of castings, molds, and gating systems. Evaluate casting solidification patterns and material flow characteristics to improve manufacturing consistency. Compare actual casting defects with simulation predictions to validate models and identify process improvement opportunities. Investigate casting quality issues and perform root cause analysis to determine corrective actions. Support the development of new aluminum castings from initial design through production implementation. Coordinate casting tooling and pattern development with internal engineering teams and external pattern shops. Review engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and technical specifications to ensure casting designs meet dimensional requirements. Develop casting process parameters, manufacturing procedures, and process control recommendations. Analyze casting inspection results, including applicable X-ray and nondestructive testing data, to evaluate product quality. Prepare technical reports documenting simulation results, defect predictions, design recommendations, and process improvements. Support production trials and evaluate casting performance against simulation results. Implement improvements to reduce casting scrap, improve yield, and increase manufacturing process reliability. Maintain casting simulation models, CAD files, engineering documentation, and process development records.
