Engineering Project Manager
Job Description
Role Overview We are looking for a seasoned Engineering Project Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of custom automation and machinery initiatives, spanning from initial design to final site acceptance. Success in this position requires a robust mechanical engineering foundation, practical experience with automated systems, and a track record of delivering intricate technical projects within high-speed manufacturing settings. We need a candidate who excels at balancing technical precision with organizational rigor, ensuring that cross-departmental teams remain aligned with project timelines, financial targets, and client requirements. Core Responsibilities Oversee the entire lifecycle of custom automation initiatives from the initial launch to final client approval. Act as the central communication hub for all client interactions during the project lifecycle. Facilitate collaboration between internal departments including engineering, assembly, controls, procurement, and field services. Create and monitor comprehensive project roadmaps, financial plans, and key milestones to ensure project success. Facilitate regular project status briefings for both executive leadership and external stakeholders. Evaluate technical designs to ensure they align with project specifications and performance criteria. Oversee project scope adjustments, manage change requests, and proactively address potential risks. Partner with engineering teams to optimize mechanical designs for improved manufacturability and system efficiency. Oversee the assembly phase, including factory and site acceptance testing, as well as final installation support. Ensure all project deliverables are met on schedule, within the allocated budget, and to the highest quality standards. Manage essential project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and action logs. Foster ongoing enhancements to our internal project management workflows and communication strategies. Qualifications Required A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional experience. At least 3 years of experience managing projects related to custom automation or specialized industrial machinery. Deep technical knowledge of automated manufacturing systems and equipment. Experience overseeing complex projects that integrate mechanical, electrical, and control systems. Demonstrated capacity to handle several concurrent projects without compromising quality. Comprehensive knowledge of the full machine lifecycle, from design and fabrication to final commissioning. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational abilities. Competency in Microsoft Office and standard project management scheduling software. Preferred PMP certification or equivalent formal training in project management. Hands-on experience with robotics, vision systems, or material handling automation. Working knowledge of CAD platforms and technical documentation standards. Experience managing direct relationships with manufacturing clients and external vendors. Willingness to travel for on-site installations, client meetings, and project support.
