Job Title:
Project Engineer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to lead cross-functional engineering and manufacturing projects from concept through production launch. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality teams, and external partners to deliver products on time, on cost, and to customer specifications. Responsibilities Lead engineering and manufacturing projects using APQP methodology. Develop and implement process plans for new products, including BOMs, routings, and manufacturing documentation. Define and verify technical, manufacturing, and resource requirements for launch readiness. Create internal production drawings using CAD and communicate requirements to manufacturing teams. Resolve discrepancies related to drawings, specifications, and contract details. Manage and execute engineering change orders (ECOs) and change requests. Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve inspection and manufacturability issues. Develop and manage project plans aligned with business objectives, identifying dependencies, risks, and critical paths. Maintain effective communication with project sponsors, stakeholders, and teams regarding scope, milestones, status, and critical issues. Participate in solution design, testing, training, and documentation for project implementation. Contribute to the development and improvement of project management standards, tools, and best practices. Coach and mentor team members in project management and business analysis methodologies. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. Strong project management skills with experience in project coordination. Experience in process and costing knowledge of custom machining, fabrication, welding, and finishing. Proficiency in CAD and electronic spreadsheet software, with Solid Edge preferred. Experience with Windows-based programs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience. Four to eight years related experience and on-the-job training. Knowledge of metallurgy, tooling, set up, feeds, speeds, and efficiency. Work Environment The role involves working with a team of 7 Engineers and 2 Estimators. The work setting includes both office desk and manufacturing floor environments, with occasional travel to company and customer sites. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wausau, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
