Transportation Design Engineer (road or bridge) - entry-level CTL Engineering paid time off, 401(k) United States, West Virginia, Charleston 300 Capitol Street (Show on map) Apr 02, 2026 CTL Engineering is hiring a Transportation Design Engineer (road or bridge) - entry-level/new grads! CTL Engineering (www.ctleng.com) is an award winning, full service consulting engineering firm with (15) locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA with a rich history over our (99) years in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry. We are looking for Transportation Design Engineer (roadway or bridges) who will be involved in the full spectrum of infrastructure engineering projects - from conception through completion. Your role will involve designing, analyzing, and evaluating roadways (or bridges) to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with WVDOH standards and guidelines.
You'll leverage your expertise in infrastructure design and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies.

Responsibilities:
Perform analysis and design for various types of roadways or bridges, including new constructions, widening and rehabilitations in accordance with WVDOH requirements. Review and approve design plans from subcontractors. Coordinate with public and governmental agencies for project approvals. Assist in preparing and reviewing technical engineering reports, drawings, and specifications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Ensure projects adhere to budgetary and scheduling constraints. Conduct field inspections and evaluations of existing roadway (or bridge) conditions. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during construction. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of State DOT/DOH policies, guidelines, and industry best practices.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of civil and engineering principles, reporting, analysis and management of teams and projects. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to manage and train others and be a team player. Ability to be reliable and on time. Must have a high level of professionalism, and comfortable with client interaction - have the ability to build relationships. Be quality-minded and client-focused.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree (MSCE) preferred but not required. Knowledge of WVDOH design standards, specifications, and procedures. Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project is a plus. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
