Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer Our client, a leading manufacturing company specializing in consumer packaging solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership and operational oversight on their production floor. This pivotal role combines hands-on engineering expertise with critical production leadership, positioning you as the primary technical resource for your assigned shift. You will be instrumental in making real-time decisions that ensure the plant operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with specifications. Working collaboratively with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams, you will troubleshoot complex issues, spearhead process improvements, and lead projects designed to elevate manufacturing performance across various departments, including Extrusion, Thermoforming, Recycling, Packing, and Shipping. What You'll Do Operational Leadership Provide comprehensive technical leadership during assigned production shifts. Support supervisors and production teams in achieving daily production targets. Monitor performance metrics, facilitate cross-departmental coordination, and resolve issues impacting production flow. Process Engineering & Continuous Improvement Analyze existing processes to enhance efficiency, minimize waste, and optimize machine settings. Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement structured problem-solving methodologies. Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement initiatives. Focus on reducing scrap rates, minimizing downtime, and optimizing changeover times. Equipment Reliability Collaborate with the Maintenance department to enhance equipment reliability and reduce unscheduled downtime. Support preventative/predictive maintenance programs and the installation of new equipment. Diagnose and resolve mechanical and process-related issues. Safety & Quality Champion a robust safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA, GMP, HACCP, and SQF standards. Support quality investigations and implement effective corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Leadership & Projects Coach and mentor supervisors and operators; support training and onboarding initiatives. Lead capital improvement projects and contribute to the successful launch of new products.
What You Bring Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline. 3-5 years of manufacturing experience. Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects. Proven ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment. Flexibility to work rotating 12-hour day/night shifts, including occasional weekends and holidays. Physical ability to stand/walk for extended periods, climb platforms/stairs, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Comfort working in a hot, noisy manufacturing environment while consistently wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Preferred:
2+ years of experience in plastics manufacturing, thermoforming, extrusion, or food packaging. Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher; Lean Manufacturing certification. Project management experience. Experience with OEE improvement initiatives and PLC-controlled equipment. Knowledge of extrusion and thermoforming processes. Experience with SAP or other ERP systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Pay:
$90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
