Full Job Description Pay:
$20 per hour at start, then $25 per hour once line is ran alone on 2nd shift Job description: U.S. Polymers Inc. (USP) is a leader in the manufacturing of building material products. Established in 1983, USP is a California corporation and a member of the Harwal Group. USP has four divisions, including Vinyl Fence & Pipe, Custom Profiles, Storage Buildings, and Window Shutters. We currently have openings for a Profile Operator at our City of Commerce, CA extrusion facility. This position reports to the Profile Leadman and is responsible for operating the profile extrusion line in accordance with the production schedule, product specifications, and company quality and safety standards. The Profile Operator is responsible for producing the required quantity of product while maintaining quality, minimizing scrap, keeping the production area clean, and following all company safety requirements. Profile Operator Operate the profile extrusion line according to the production schedule and product specifications. Understand the production schedule and specifications for each product. Ensure all profiles produced meet company quality standards and required specifications. Assemble and disassemble the extruder, clean the equipment, and change sizers as required. Register and adjust the bushing, puller, saw, and dumping table as necessary. Measure profile dimensions using a jig and caliper and take appropriate action when measurements are outside specifications. Perform routine quality control checks throughout production. Prepare boxes and place finished production on pallets. Ensure all boxes are properly labeled and signed. Cut scrap profiles and place them in the appropriate Gaylords according to color. Obtain the appropriate raw materials according to the production schedule. Complete the daily production report clearly and accurately. Keep the production line and surrounding work areas clean and organized. Immediately report maintenance issues or other problems requiring attention to the Production Manager or Profile Leadman. Follow all Codes of Safety Practices and company safety policies. Promote teamwork and maintain a cooperative working relationship with other employees. Position Authority The Profile Operator has the authority to: Adjust line parameters when testing or observations indicate that adjustments are necessary. Stop the line, when appropriate, in the absence of the Profile Leadman, Production Manager, or Plant Manager. Stop the line and clean the die if the product shows signs of burned material. Product samples and die residue must be retained for review. Stop the line when a maintenance issue requires attention, after notifying Maintenance and obtaining an estimated repair time. Stop the line when a quality issue cannot be corrected by the operator and immediately notify the Profile Leadman, Production Manager, or Plant Manager.
Requirements:
Ability to read and write. Ability to communicate effectively. Basic math skills. Previous extrusion experience preferred. Previous forklift experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be able to follow production schedules, product specifications, safety procedures, and work instructions.
Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a standing position. Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Must have normal hearing. Must be able to differentiate between colors. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. for short intervals.
Working Conditions:
Work around moving mechanical parts and heaters. Normal shift length is 8 hours. Must be willing to work the assigned schedule, including weekends as needed.
Performance Expectations:
The Profile Operator is expected to: Produce the required quantity of product according to established setup parameters and the production schedule. Produce profiles that meet all required specifications and quality standards. Complete daily production reports accurately. Minimize scrap while maintaining product quality. Use good judgment when identifying production, quality, or maintenance issues and notify the appropriate personnel. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Maintain a cooperative and professional working relationship with other employees. This position starts at a designated operator level, with opportunities for advancement and growth based on performance, skills, and experience.
