Job Overview Premier BioSource is seeking a Swine Production Tech to join our team in Ramona, California. This position supports a farrow-to-finish swine facility that produces pigs exclusively for biomedical research. The Swine Production Technician reports directly to the Production Manager and plays a critical role in maintaining animal health, welfare, and facility operations. As part of a small team, this position is hands-on and involves all aspects of swine production, including breeding, farrowing, piglet processing, animal care, facility maintenance, biosecurity, and delivery preparation. We are looking for a self-starter with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail. Essential Responsibilities Animal Care & Production Provide daily care and monitoring of pigs throughout all production stages. Assist with farrowing, piglet processing, weaning, and breeding programs. Identify animals requiring individual attention and administer treatments as directed. Weigh, sort, vaccinate, and move animals as needed. Maintain animal health and welfare in accordance with company protocols. Monitor breeding and population trends to support production goals and performance metrics. Assist with artificial insemination (AI) and boar collection activities. Facility Operations Perform routine cleaning, pressure washing, and sanitation of barns and equipment. Maintain delivery vehicles, trailers, kennels, and related equipment. Assist with animal load-outs and delivery preparation. Operate farm equipment, including tractors and related machinery. Maintain facility grounds and support general maintenance projects. Maintenance & Equipment Assist with preventative maintenance programs for buildings and equipment. Identify and report equipment or facility issues promptly. Perform basic vehicle inspections and maintenance. Administrative & Communication Maintain accurate production, inventory, and treatment records. Communicate regularly with the Production Manager regarding operational needs, inventory, and upcoming animal orders. Follow and support all standard operating procedures (SOPs). Biosecurity & Compliance Adhere to all company biosecurity protocols. Support and maintain practices that protect animal health and research integrity. Comply with all safety regulations and company policies. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday. Ability to perform basic math Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Strong verbal communication and organizational skills. Preferred 2+ years of experience in all phases of farrow-to-finish swine production. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel. Swine husbandry and animal observation Experience with artificial insemination and boar collection. Animal health assessment and treatment administration Mechanical aptitude and experience maintaining agricultural equipment and facilities Animal health assessment and treatment administration Vaccination and injection techniques Farrowing and piglet processing Equipment operation, including tractors and farm machinery Facility cleaning, sanitation, and pressure washing Record keeping and inventory management Ability to work independently while following established protocols Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and move 50+ pounds regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in livestock environments for extended periods. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and machinery. Safety Requirements Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain strict adherence to biosecurity protocols. Must not own or raise personal pigs due to biosecurity requirements. Schedule & Availability Typical schedule: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Mon-Friday, 40 hours per week Work 1 weekend per month.
