Shift Coating Technician Location:
Boulder, CO Pay:
$22-$26/hour (DOE)

    Monday-Thursday:
    3:30 PM - 2:00 AM About the Role The Coating Technician supports optical coating operations by moving components from cleaning processes into coating chamber preparation. You'll perform cleaning, inspections, and substrate prep to ensure components meet quality standards before coating. This hands-on manufacturing role is ideal for someone interested in precision optics, thin-film coating processes, and structured production environments. The position reports to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager. What You'll Do
    • Clean optical substrates and coated components
    • Perform routine inspections and measurements to verify quality
    • Conduct incoming inspection of parts as needed
    • Prepare components for coating operations
    • Set up tooling and load parts into coating chambers
    • Package optical components for internal processing or shipment
    • Perform spin-cleaning operations, primarily on small optics
    • Read and follow detailed process sheets
    • Handle chemicals safely and follow established procedures
    • Assist with tooling setup and begin learning tooling fit checks
    • Follow all safety guidelines and promote a safe work environment
    • Support FOD (Foreign Object Debris) control requirements
    • Maintain 6S workplace organization and cleanliness
    • Lift up to 25 lbs as needed What You Bring
    • High School Diploma or GED preferred
    • Manufacturing or process-driven experience a plus, not required
    • Ability to follow clear instructions and repeatable procedures
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Additional Requirements
    • Work may involve information governed by ITAR regulations
