LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is currently seeking Components Production Technicians in Gainesville, FL . What You Will Be Responsible For A Components Production Technician is responsible for the safe handling and processing of blood and blood components with consistency and precision. The selected candidate will be working in a highly regulated environment to prepare components intended for transfusion. Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
  • Prepare blood and blood products
  • Perform the lab audit process which includes the quarantine, release and disposal of blood products based on disease testing results
  • Filter blood using dockable filters to provide leuko-reduced products
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning of instruments and department
  • Data processing and input
  • Label all available apheresis products and quarantine/discard products, as necessary Requirements To Be Considered
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver's eligibility requirements. The employee must have a valid driver's license to drive their personal vehicle or a company vehicle as required by the employer to various worksite locations.
  • Must be able to work evenings, rotating weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work consistently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Must have good manual dexterity and the ability to operate equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to do basic math including addition, subtraction, proportions, percentages, scientific notation, etc.
  • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion. Lifting light to heavy objects. Occasional stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, overhead lifting
  • Experience in a laboratory setting preferred Who We Are LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.

With more than 45 donor centers, 55 bloodmobiles and 2,000 blood drives a month, our LifeSouth team is dedicated to making sure the blood is there when you or your family is in need. Our Mission To provide a safe blood supply that meets or exceed the needs in each community we serve and to provide a variety of services in support of ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion related activities. This is a part-time position. Starting salary range is $15.00
  • $16.
