Job Overview:
LaserStar Technologies is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Manufacturing Assembly Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform the assembling, testing, and final run-off of our high-tech laser systems that consist of multiple laser sources, multi-axis controllers, optical, and electromechanical components. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical wiring, mechanical assembly, and reading of schematics/drawings. Candidates should be comfortable on the shop floor, understand assembly workflows, and fabrication ensuring high-quality production standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assemble electromechanical components, including wiring, motors, sensors, optics, and control panels. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and standard work instructions (SWIs). Conduct measurement testing, functional testing, quality inspections and non-conformance logging of sub-assembled and finished units. Use hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments safely and effectively. Perform soldering, crimping, and wire harness assembly as required.
Kaizen & Lean Participation:
Suggest process improvements during team huddles. Collaborate with engineering and production team members to provide feedback on design improvements and manufacturing processes. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Minimum 3-7 years of experience in electrical and mechanical assembly. Laser system assembly experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as
IPC-A-610
(soldering) or
IPC/WHMA-A-620
(cable/wire harness assembly).
- PLC or automation knowledge (up to 4-axis control).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, and assembly instructions.
- Experience with wiring, cable routing, and electrical component installation.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, fasteners, and precision assembly.
- Ability to use hand tools, soldering irons, computers, and testing equipment.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and time management skills.
Education:
Associate Degree:
Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for intricate assembly work.
Work Environment:
Primary work is in a manufacturing assembly space. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
