Full Job Description Mission:
To provide quality, reliable, cost effective, pretreatment and chemical feed systems, which require a minimum of installation time and mechanical/electrical expertise of our sales force and customers. Our primary business and revenue stream is the sale of water treatment chemicals. The primary goal of the ChemAqua Engineering Technician is to provide technical support to minimize the time spent by our field force for equipment installation and start-up, while maximizing the time available for the pursuit of new chemical sales and business. Responsible for assembling water treatment equipment.
Level of Authority:
Performs work under direct supervision of Production Supervisor. Latitude is given for independent action and decisions. Error in judgment could have significant impact on customer relations and could result in legal and fiscal liability for ChemAqua.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with ambient temperatures varying between seasons from 55oF - 100oF.
Work Hours:
Normal weekday office hours are 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. Due to the nature of our business night, weekend, and holiday hours may be required to meet our sales force and customer needs. Compensatory time off or overtime will be offered when these job requirements occur.
Travel:
An occasional day and/or night travel may be required for work performed in the field.
Essential Job Functions:
Assemble pretreatment equipment such water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, and filters based on drawings and instructions provided by Engineering Assemble chemical feed equipment for cooling towers, boilers, and wastewater treatment systems based on drawings and instructions provided by Engineering Interconnect pretreatment and chemical feed systems using SCH 80 PVC, galvanized, and stainless steel pipes. Wire microprocessor-based controllers and custom control panels using basic wiring techniques. Program microprocessor-based pretreatment and chemical feed equipment. Test assembled systems for quality prior to shipment. Breakdown assembled equipment and package for shipment. Must be able to load trucks (tractor trailers) Must be available on Sunday(s) Additional Job Functions Complete special projects set forth by Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Supervisor. Qualifications And Capabilities
TECHNICAL
Ideal candidate will have 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Must have ability to fit PVC and steel pipe. Must have proficient use of power and hand tools. Must have ability to read a tape measure. Must have ability to read mechanical working drawings. Must have ability to operate forklift. Must have knowledge of basic electrical circuits. Knowledge of how to operate a pipe threader a plus, but not required. Knowledge of how to operate a multi-meter a plus, but not required.
PHYSICAL
Must have physical strength and ability to lift up to 40 pounds and carry such a weight for 100 feet. Must have good visual ability for close-up observations and use of analytical and control equipment Must have good depth perception and ability to distinguish different colors. Must have hearing sufficient to hear verbal and audible signals at a moderate distance. Must be conditioned to sustain work in a manufacturing environment that ranges in temperature from 55oF - 100oF OTHER Must have a valid Drivers License. Must have reading ability sufficient to read technical manuals, mechanical and electrical drawings, codes, and other technical materials. Must have writing ability sufficient to write correspondence and instructions. Must have good communication skills to deal with the public and to work cooperatively with sales force and other company employees.
