Job Title:
Production Technician- Makaweli, Kauai- $20/hr Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Production Technician to join our team on Kauai Island. The successful candidate will perform a variety of routine tasks associated with our seed research program, including the pollination of corn plants and harvest of corn ears according to established research protocols. The nature of tasks will vary according to the crop stage and will be seasonal. This role requires working both in the field and in shade houses, conducting tasks such as planting, thinning, weeding, tissue sampling, and more. Responsibilities Conduct pollination of corn plants and harvest corn ears as per research protocols. Engage in planting, thinning, weeding, and tissue sampling. Perform transplanting, transpotting, pot or flat filling, plant tagging, seedling rearray, plant cutting, husk back harvest, and pest management activities. Handle sample processing tasks including sorting, shelling, weighing, counting, preparation for shipping, and seed packaging. Conduct general facility operations such as clean-up and organization of samples and supplies. Use powered tools and machinery like mowers, weed whackers, blowers, power washers, and more as needed. Follow written and oral instructions carefully, with attention to detail. Essential Skills Ability to lift 40lbs and walk on uneven field surfaces for extended periods. Comfortable working with and around plants and plant pollens. Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience in production line and farming is beneficial. Why Work Here?
