Job Title:
Production Technician Job Description As a Production Technician, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality products for our customers. Your primary responsibilities will involve preparing parts for furnace operations, monitoring furnace performance, loading and unloading the furnace, and ensuring the highest level of quality. Training will occur from 6am to 2pm for up to one month before transitioning to the second shift (2pm to 10pm) . You will also maintain a safe and efficient work area, set up and monitor production, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, production, and quality. Responsibilities Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments. Assemble and load key components into the furnace. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. Observe and identify key details and potential issues. Assist with troubleshooting machine issues and perform routine maintenance tasks. Generate creative ideas for process improvements. Analyze information and concepts effectively. Communicate information clearly and effectively. Essential Skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Mechanical aptitude. Experience with micrometers and calipers. Approximately 1 year of machining experience, including schooling. Proficiency in drill press operation and troubleshooting. Experience with manual changeover and machine operation. Strong attendance and punctuality Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous machine operator or manufacturing experience (not always required). Experience reading basic work instructions or production documentation. Familiarity with quality checks, visual inspection, or simple gauges. Strong teamwork and reliability (attendance is critical in this role). Why Work Here? We offer a comprehensive 4-year apprentice program. Participants will receive training from a machinist to set up, troubleshoot, and operate machines, with classes provided at Highland Community College. Apprentices will rotate through different departments, gaining experience in Swiss, large diameter stock, and screw machine areas. Upon program completion, participants will be placed in a department and shift based on need, with a commitment agreement for two years post-program. We pride ourselves on a family-style culture with high accountability, and our rating system in reviews ensures standards are met without progressive penalties. Work Environment You will work in the Plating Department during the second shift from 3pm to 11pm, Monday through Friday, with voluntary Saturdays. The team size on Plant 1's first floor consists of 22 employees. The dress code requires safety boots, safety glasses, and earplugs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Freeport, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
