Job Description

CoWorx Staffing Services is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for our client located in the Sturbridge, MA area. This is a
DIRECT HIRE
opportunity. This is a 32-hour/week position, with two-12-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday, and an 8-hour shift during the week. (Weekday can be flexible)
Responsibilities:
Perform manual and mechanical operations, including glass handling techniques, to support MCVD production for manufacturing high-quality optical fiber preforms. Operate production tracking software and maintain accurate manufacturing records. Conduct index profile testing to inspect and verify preform quality. Support and participate in training activities to enhance team performance within the department. Etch preforms using acid to achieve the desired diameter. Inspect lathes and GDS systems for leaks, defects, or damaged components. Assist in developing and maintaining documentation for manufacturing procedures, processes, and equipment. Adjust recipe phases to ensure correct heat, solenoid, and mode code settings. Handle and transport corrosive chemicals required for MCVD manufacturing processes. Support additional duties as required by management. Read and interpret GDS schematics.
Desired Background/Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or technical training preferred. Five or more years of similar manufacturing experience required. Experience working with chemicals or gases is preferred. Solid math skills. Ability to train and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Ability to read and interpret work instructions and drawings to ensure products meet customer specifications. Strong mechanical and technical aptitude or interest. Experience with glass working and the use of glassworking equipment is highly preferred. Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues is desired.

$23-28/hr. weekend shift offers 20% shift differential
Shift:
