General Production Worker Job Description This role involves working on a production line to assemble materials, operate machinery, and prepare finished parts for shipment. You will handle components, perform visual inspections to ensure quality, and rotate through various positions on the line based on preference and production needs. The work focuses on consistent, accurate production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment on a third-shift schedule. Responsibilities Operate production line equipment and machinery safely and efficiently according to established procedures. Assemble components and materials on the production line, ensuring all parts are correctly attached and properly aligned. Lift finished parts off the production line and place them into boxes for shipment, following packaging and labeling requirements. Perform detailed visual inspections of parts before placing them into boxes, identifying defects such as scratches, paint marks, dents, or other quality issues. Handle and move components, including lifting plastic and foam parts such as automotive hoods, and positioning them next to the workstation. Rotate through different positions on the production line as needed, contributing to multiple stages of the manufacturing process. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety and housekeeping standards. Follow quality control procedures and report any defects, equipment issues, or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel. Work collaboratively with other operators and team members to meet production goals and maintain consistent output. Adhere to all production schedules, including mandatory overtime and extended shifts when required. Comply with all safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety controls. Essential Skills At least 6 months of recent manufacturing experience, currently working in manufacturing or having done so within the last 30 days. Recent experience within the last 6 months in a production worker, machine operator, assembler, or warehouse role. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift. Capability to lift and handle plastic and foam automotive hoods, stacking them approximately 5-6 high and placing them next to the workstation. Proven visual inspection experience, including identifying defects such as scratches, paint marks, dents, and other imperfections on parts. Demonstrated job longevity, with at least 8 months or longer at each of the past three jobs. Comfort working in a fast-paced, hands-on production or general labor environment. Reliability and flexibility to work third shift hours and mandatory overtime, including some Saturdays and 12-hour shifts when required. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety and quality standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanical aptitude and interest in working with machinery and production equipment. Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in general production, assembly, or general labor roles. Comfort working in a plastic manufacturing environment that can become warm, especially during summer months. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a plastic manufacturing facility that can be hot during the summer, so you should be comfortable working in a warm industrial setting. You will work on third shift from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with the expectation of overtime as needed, including arriving up to 4 hours early or staying up to 4 hours after your scheduled shift, some Saturdays, and periodic mandatory 12-hour shifts for hourly employees. You will work alongside another operator with an additional operator overseeing the machine, fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The role requires adherence to safety and dress standards, including wearing work pants, a work shirt, closed-toe shoes, and safety glasses. For safety reasons, long fingernails are not permitted. The facility emphasizes safe machine operation, quality inspection, and consistent production practices throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roseville, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.95 - $16.95/hr.
