Job Title:
Powder Coat Line Operator Job Description This role operates on the first shift in the powder coat department, where you apply powder paint to metal parts and support the overall paint line process. You will rotate through different positions, including spraying, loading, and unloading parts, to ensure a consistent, high-quality finish and an efficient production flow. Responsibilities Apply powder paint to parts using a spray gun in a paint booth, following established procedures and quality standards. Load parts weighing up to 40 pounds (typically 10-15 pounds) onto the paint rack in preparation for powder coating. Unload painted parts from the drying rack and organize them for the next stage of production. Rotate between roles in the paint department at every break, including spraying, loading, and unloading, to support team coverage and efficiency. Work collaboratively with a team of four in the paint department, maintaining clear communication and a smooth workflow. Follow all safety guidelines when using respirators, hoods, and other protective equipment while working in the booth. Maintain a clean and organized work area in and around the paint booth and production line. Perform general labor tasks related to production and painting as needed. Be available for overtime, including some Saturdays and potential weekend work, based on production demands. Essential Skills At least 3 months of manufacturing experience. Ability to safely lift and handle parts up to 40 pounds, with most parts ranging from 10-15 pounds. Basic understanding of production or general labor processes in a manufacturing environment. Willingness to work first shift from 4:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with overtime including Saturdays when needed. Ability to follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment. Comfort working in a paint booth and around powder coating equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications At least 3 months of powder coat experience is preferred. Experience using a spray gun for painting or powder coating is a plus. Experience working in a paint booth environment is beneficial. Hilo (forklift) experience is a plus. Familiarity with general labor tasks in a production setting. Ability to learn powder coating processes quickly and follow instructions accurately. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a powder coat department within a small manufacturing facility, operating on first shift from 4:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with regular overtime and some Saturday or weekend work as production requires. You will work as part of a four-person paint team, rotating between spraying in the booth, loading racks, and unloading finished parts. Parts typically weigh 10-15 pounds, with some up to 40 pounds, and you will handle them regularly throughout the shift. The role involves working in and around a paint booth and drying racks, using powder coating and spray painting equipment. When working in the booth, you will wear appropriate protective gear, which may include a respirator or a hood, and a suit is optional depending on the task and safety requirements. The facility maintains a relaxed atmosphere where employees can listen to music while working, while still emphasizing safety and productivity. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spring Lake, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
