A Day in This Role As the Electro-Separations Membrane Coating Line Operator, you'll start your shift by suiting up in proper PPE and joining an EHS touchpoint. You'll set up brand-new coating equipment, mix chemicals—including strong acids, bases, and solvents—according to precise formulas, and bring the coating line up to spec. As the line runs, you'll watch the web, measure critical parameters, and fine-tune settings to meet membrane specifications. Throughout the run, you'll capture production and quality data in logs, forms, databases, and SAP, move materials to the right locations, and package finished membranes. When issues arise, you'll troubleshoot to root cause to minimize scrap. You'll also perform routine maintenance and calibrations, support area cycle counts, and contribute to process changes and new product development. At close, you'll execute thorough cleaning and safe shutdown.
Core Responsibilities Champion EHS:
follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety rules, maintain housekeeping, and take part in EHS meetings, investigations, and audits; proactively raise and resolve safety concerns. Set up, operate, clean, and shut down membrane production equipment. Handle and mix chemicals per documented formulas and procedures; extensive PPE required for acids, bases, and solvents. Record production and quality data clearly and completely in databases, forms, logs, and SAP. Move raw materials, WIP, and finished goods to proper storage and staging areas. Monitor raw material and final product quality; adjust coating parameters to meet specifications. Troubleshoot process issues to identify root causes and reduce scrap. Follow life-critical procedures (Lock-out/Tag-Out, Confined Space Entry, Line-Break). Contain, label, store, and transfer hazardous waste in accordance with regulations. Support inventory integrity through regular cycle counts. Perform scheduled maintenance and calibration tasks. Prepare and package membrane products. Assist with process changes and new product development activities. Complete other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Facilitator, or Lead. Minimum Qualifications At least 1 year of experience as a machine operator, maintenance technician, chemical mixer/handler, or technical military background; OR at least 6 months as a membrane operator. Able to lift and handle up to 50 lbs. Eligibility Requirements Comfort working with chemicals, including solvents and acids. Willing and able to work overtime. Willing to perform preventative maintenance (e.g., changing filters, strainers, cleaning). Willing to wear PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, safety shoes, and, intermittently, a PAPR respirator and chemical-resistant suit. Preferred Background Associate's degree in engineering, industrial technology, instrumentation, automated systems and robotics, electronics engineering technology, industrial controls and robotics, Right Skills Now for Manufacturing, chemistry, or similar technical field. Knowledge of plumbing/fluid transfer (valve orientation, air bleeding, isolation, etc.). Inventory control experience in SAP or similar systems. Experience troubleshooting continuous web or paper handling processes. Ability to perform basic shop math (percentages, usage rates, yields). Exposure to PLCs. Exceptional attention to detail for safe, accurate chemical mixing. Understanding of web-handling manufacturing. Fork truck experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to learn policies, practices, and procedures. Experience working with chemicals. Willing to train and practice forklift operations, LOTO operations, and confined space operations (HVAC HEPA Filter Changes). Compensation Hourly pay is market-aligned for comparable roles and considers experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity. Final offers may be above or below the guideline rate.Guideline:
$21/hr base + $0.75/hr second-shift differential (USD).
