Job Description

Job Overview Summary:
The Lead Production Technician is responsible for a variety of jobs within the Production department, which include processing and producing nutritional feed additives for the livestock and companion animal industry. Other responsibilities include accurately picking and scaling of specialty ingredients according to the product formulation and packaging and palletizing of finished goods. The Production technicians are responsible for maintaining a clean work area within the facility, while utilizing 5S methodologies. The lead technician is responsible for organizing and managing the productivity and efficiency of the production team. The Lead Technician will be responsible for maintaining follow-through on the production schedule. The Lead Production Technician may be asked to help with some of the maintenance activities. Workers are expected to work cooperatively and respectfully with Production team and other departments. Candidate must be a champion of BioMatrix values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
(Other duties may be assigned) (I) Production Loading ingredients into large industrial blenders Operating a variety of processing and packaging equipment Accurately picking ingredients and packaging materials using FIFO (First in First out) Operating various forklifts and aerial equipment Operating our batching/inventory software BatchMaster Completing daily documentation Overall cleanliness of the facility Follow all Safe Quality Food or Feed (SQF) processes as they relate to manufacturing, shipping/receiving activities, and material storage Teamwork (II) Team Lead Responsible for ensuring the correct ingredients are picked from inventory for each batch produced.
  • Responsible for ensuring that each batch is blended according to the batch blending instructions.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing paperwork is filled out completely and accurately.
  • Responsible for overall integrity of each pallet that is produced.
  • Ensure that inventory adjustments are communicated to the Production Supervisor
  • Ensure that GMP's are being followed on the production floor.
  • Provide Training to new and existing production employees (III) Maintenance Assist Technical Operations Specialist in performing daily, monthly, and annual maintenance inspections.
Assist Technical Operations Specialist in performing facility maintenance tasks o Mowing the lawn o Snow removal o Changing AC and Heat filters o Replacing facility light bulbs o Equipment PM's and maintenance
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess a strong mechanical and technical aptitude, previous knowledge/training with industrial trucks, and previous experience in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment, previous lead experience is preferred. This individual must be detail oriented and able to multi-task, familiarity with 5s methodologies is a bonus. Good communication and organizational skills are required. Education/Experience:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Previous experience in similar environment is preferred, with experience in manufacturing related field. Must possess a valid driver's license.
Language Skills:
Ability to speak in clear and concise manner. Must be able to read and write English. Ability to work within and promote a team environment and use of discretion to sensitive company information.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
    Microsoft Office:
    Word, Excel, Outlook; Power Point, Access, OneNote.
    • BatchMaster, SAP B-1
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Previous knowledge/training with industrial trucks, mixing, and packaging equipment.
    • Previous warehouse experience.
    • Experience with Inventory Management software.
    • Ability to multi-task.
    • Organized and detailed.
    • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude Physical Demands Ability to lift and stack bags of material weighing 55 lbs.
    on a consistent basis. Can climb ladders, work on elevated platforms, and work with various power tools. Ability to stand in one location for periods of time and for the duration of the shift, sitting will be occasional, but minimal. Ability to bend, twist, reach, and maneuver your body in tight areas to work on equipment, with no limitations. Ability to operate a forklift safely for long periods of time. Work Environment Temperature controlled environment. Working with dusty materials, and higher noise levels at times. Use and operation of equipment and tools daily. Loading and unloading of truck trailers and shipping containers on occasion.
