Production Technician Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Machine Mechanic / Production Equipment Technician to support and maintain our production machinery. This role involves working with older-style machines that have exposed mechanical components. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, adjusting, and repairing machinery to ensure smooth production processes. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair production machinery to minimize downtime. Perform mechanical adjustments to ensure proper operation, such as product feeding straight, alignment, and smooth flow. Change dies, forms, and other tooling as needed for production runs. Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment. Diagnose mechanical issues and replace worn or damaged components. Work closely with the production team to keep machines running efficiently. Maintain a safe and organized work area. Follow safety procedures and report equipment concerns immediately. Essential Skills Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with a hands-on approach. Ability to perform machine changeovers, including tooling/die/form changes. Basic understanding of production equipment operation. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Reliable, punctual, and able to work in an industrial environment. Proficiency with hand tools. Why Work Here? The typical work hours are from 8am to 4:30pm, with Fridays from 8am to 1:30pm, and minimal overtime throughout the year. The dress code is casual, with jeans and sneakers acceptable. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Perth Amboy, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
