Calender Operator - Plastics Manufacturing (Production Line Operator) Summary/Objective The Calender Operator sets up, monitors, and adjusts equipment used to manufacture high-performance thermoplastic sheet to ensure product quality and efficient production. This role is responsible for controlling process settings, inspecting material, troubleshooting equipment issues, and documenting production results. Calender Operators work closely with associated production, quality, and maintenance teams to safely produce material that meets customer specifications. Performs inspections of company products to determine conformance with specifications. Utilizes standard mechanical and electrical instruments, functional gauges and measuring devices. Processes associated documentation, including process tags, rework tags and nonconforming material documents. Work under direct supervision and in accordance with instructions and techniques. Required Education and Experience HS Diploma or GED Math and Computer Skills Hand Tools and Measuring Devices (micrometer, tape measure) Forklift Experience Demonstration good communication skills Competencies Reliability Attention to detail

Teamwork Responsibilities:

Follow work order instructions Complete machine set up and perform various tasks: scoop color, move drums, connect equipment, adjust temperatures, turn knobs, push buttons, move sheet. Troubleshoot mechanical problems Change gauges, speeds and coordinate changeovers Ensure proper materials are used Utilize standard mechanical and electrical instruments, functional gauges and measuring devices Inspect material to ensure quality specs are met Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. Complete proper paperwork and tracking requirements Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Job Requirements:

Experienced in machine set-up, mechanically inclined & able to troubleshoot mechanical problems Ability to use hand tools and measurement devices (micrometer, tape measure) Possess good math and computer skills Forklift experience Work Environment While performing the duties of this job in a manufacturing setting, the employee is frequently exposed to heat and moving mechanical parts. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must stand 8-12 hours per day and is occasionally required to bend, squat, climb, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull or move up to 50 pounds. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shift. Additional hours during the week or on weekends may be required according to production demands. Supervisory Responsibility This position requires no supervisory responsibility.
