Job Description

Frontier Electronic Systems Offers:

Manufacturing Technician:
The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining SMT production equipment, Selective Solder systems, AOI, X‑Ray inspection tools, performing manual Conformal Coating, and identifying and maintaining tooling to J‑STD‑001 and IPC‑A‑610 workmanship standards. This role supports production of high‑reliability electronics for DOD, NASA, and other mission‑critical customers.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform all functions within the FES Quality Management System. Program and operate equipment to include SMT, Selective Solder, AOI inspection, and X-Ray Inspection. Perform equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment. Identifies, selects and orders tools and supplies needed for production use. Operate within required process documentation parameters. Meet and comply with J‑STD‑001 Class 2, 3 or Space Addendum and customer‑specific quality requirements for aerospace and defense. Assembles products within defined production flow as needed to include building, testing, and inspecting. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience. Ability to interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and process documentation. Competently use hand tools, precision measurement equipment and ability to program machines. Strong attention to detail and ability to work on high‑reliability, low‑volume builds. Proficient in use of computers and software to include MS Office; ability to gain proficiency in ERP and MES systems as well as other relevant Frontier Electronic Systems software systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years assembly experience preferred. Current J‑STD‑001 Certification or IPC‑A‑610 Certification. Experience with BGA rework, reflow profiling, or process optimization. Familiarity with NASA‑STD‑8739 workmanship standards. Experience in a small‑team manufacturing environment where technicians wear multiple hats.
Work Environment:
Typical hours 8:00am - 5:00pm, M-F. Electronics manufacturer with a hands‑on, collaborative culture. Mix of prototype, low‑volume/high‑mix, and mission‑critical production with varying daily tasks. Employees may be exposed to intermittent sounds at a level above normal working conditions.
Essential Physical Functions:
Requires prolonged standing, fine‑motor work, and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs. Pass a vision test that meets the requirements of NASA 8739.6 and

Space Addendum administered by a qualified health care professional. Ability to accurately distinguish colors.
