Production Technician - Rubber Compounding and Mixing Job Description This role supports a custom rubber compounding and mixing facility by handling palletizing, batching, and general production activities in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will start by managing finished rubber strips on the production line and, as you demonstrate reliability and skill, you will receive cross-training on multiple pieces of equipment and processes across the plant. Responsibilities Palletize manufactured rubber by taking long strips from the production line and neatly weaving them onto pallets for shipment to customers. Cross-weave rubber strips on pallets multiple times to create organized, stable, and transport-ready loads. Assist with batching by pulling ingredients and compounds and weighing them according to work orders to create rubber mixtures. Support the mixer operator by assisting with loading, monitoring, and unloading the mixer as needed. Unload mixed rubber from the mixer so it can be cut into specified strip sizes according to production requirements. Operate or assist with production equipment such as mixers, blenders, extruders, and other machinery after appropriate training. Perform general production and assembly line tasks, including machine operation, bagging, and compounding activities. Conduct quality checks on rubber products to ensure they meet standards for each specific type of rubber. Pull rubber from the line, cure it as required, and verify that the cured rubber aligns with established quality and performance standards. Document production and quality results accurately using computer systems and required forms. Use computer systems comfortably to record data, track results, and support production reporting. Report results and updates to supervisory personnel, communicating issues, progress, and any deviations from standards. Assist in directing certain activities on the production lines when requested, helping coordinate tasks to meet daily production goals. Maintain a high level of attendance and reliability to support continuous production operations. Follow all safety procedures and housekeeping standards to keep work areas clean and safe in a dusty, dirty manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Previous production experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Demonstrated history of strong attendance and reliability, supported by references when available. Willingness to work in a dirty manufacturing environment with exposure to rubber dust. Ability to learn and work with multiple pieces of equipment, including mixers, blenders, extruders, and related production machinery. Comfort with general labor tasks such as lifting, palletizing, and working on assembly or production lines. Ability to operate or learn to operate production and machine equipment for mixing, compounding, and bagging. Comfort using computers to document production and quality data and to follow work instructions. Ability to perform quality checks and compare results to established standards for different rubber types. Strong attention to detail when weighing ingredients, batching compounds, and organizing pallets. Effective communication skills to provide updates and report results to supervisory staff. Motivated, go-getter mentality with a willingness to be cross-trained in multiple areas of production. Ability to work both independently at a station and collaboratively as part of a production team. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with forklift operation, especially sit-down propane forklifts, is a plus. Willingness to train on forklift operation after being hired on a direct basis, if needed. Experience in general production, assembly, assembly line work, or machine operation. Experience in mixing, compounding, and bagging operations in an industrial setting. Familiarity with quality check processes and basic production documentation. Comfort with working in a multi-building facility and adapting to different workstations. Why Work Here? This opportunity offers a long-term career path in a specialized rubber compounding and mixing environment, with the chance to grow your skills through extensive cross-training on multiple processes and machines. As you demonstrate reliability and capability, you can expand your responsibilities and increase your value within the operation. Once hired directly, you will have access to a strong benefits package, reflecting a commitment to supporting employees' well-being and long-term stability. The workplace values individuals with a strong work ethic, a proactive mindset, and a desire to learn, creating an environment where dedicated team members can build a lasting career. Work Environment The facility is a custom rubber compounding and mixing operation consisting of three buildings, designed for high-volume industrial production. The environment is very dirty due to the nature of the rubber manufacturing process, and team members will be exposed to rubber dust that can accumulate on clothing by the end of the day. Work is performed at individual stations while collaborating as part of a broader production team to accomplish daily goals. The setting includes mixers, blenders, extruders, and other industrial machinery, as well as palletizing and general production equipment. Team members should expect a hands-on, physically active role in a dusty manufacturing environment and be comfortable using computers alongside manual tasks to document production and quality results.
