Manufacturing Technician Job Description The Manufacturing Technician operates and monitors production equipment that processes raw agricultural materials into refined oil products. This role ensures safe, efficient, and consistent production while maintaining strict quality standards. The technician handles incoming and outgoing materials, supports equipment troubleshooting and adjustments, maintains accurate production and inventory documentation, and assists engineers and contractors with process improvements and new operations. Responsibilities Operate and monitor manufacturing and production equipment, including PLC/HMI systems, to process raw agricultural materials into refined oil products. Continuously observe equipment performance and process conditions to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production. Troubleshoot and resolve basic equipment or process issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. Adjust and calibrate equipment settings to maintain product quality, process efficiency, and adherence to specifications. Handle raw materials such as seed, oil, and byproducts, ensuring proper loading, unloading, storage, and transfer. Operate a forklift to move materials, supplies, and finished products as needed, following all safety procedures. Maintain accurate production logs, batch records, and inventory documentation in a timely and organized manner. Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards during daily operations. Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for all production activities. Support process improvement initiatives by providing feedback on equipment performance and production methods. Assist engineers and contractors with the setup, testing, and implementation of new equipment and operations. Collaborate with team members across production, maintenance, and quality to resolve issues and optimize workflow. Perform basic cleaning and routine checks on equipment and work areas to maintain a safe and orderly environment. Use Microsoft Office and other digital tools to record data, complete reports, and communicate production information. Participate in training and cross-training activities to build skills and support flexible coverage across operations. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing or agricultural production. Demonstrated ability to operate and monitor production equipment, including PLC/HMI systems. Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting ability for equipment and process issues. Proven ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain quality and safety standards. Strong attention to detail to accurately complete logs, batch records, and inventory documentation. Effective time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a production environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively to a team. Experience using Microsoft Office for data entry, reporting, and communication. Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safe work practices in a production setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Forklift experience preferred, including safe operation for material handling. Background in maintenance or as a maintenance technician is beneficial. Experience as a machine operator in a production or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with assembly processes and general manufacturing workflows. Comfort working with agricultural materials such as seed, oil, and byproducts. Willingness to support process improvements and new product development activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salem, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
