Please independently verify any critical information before relying on it. Description Overview This position is located at the Steel Fab Facility in Florence, S.C. General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to contribute to building the most complex products in the world. A Manufacturing Technician is a multi-disciplined person that must have one or more skills within the trades. Welders, Electricians, Pipefitters, Shipfitters and Outside Machinists will be preferred and considered first. Other Manufacturing Technicians such as Tool Crib operators, Carpenters, Sheetmetal workers and Material Handlers may be considered at the discretion of the employer. The ideal candidate will bring an energetic, positive attitude and a willingness to adapt as job requirements evolve. Duties will include, but not limited to: Assist Operations Supervisors with steel processing material reviews and work order closeouts. Qualify as (or demonstrate the ability to qualify as) an NDT VT Inspector in accordance with
MDD-00948/MDD-01464.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or GED. 1+ years of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, and manufacturing industryPreferred:
1+ year of industrial marine environment experience Completion of vocational, technical, community college, or apprenticeship programs. Relevant formal training or education. Proficiency in blueprint and drawing interpretation. Navy or military experience. Skills Strong organizational, presentation, and communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated leadership ability. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
