ABOUT THE POSITION
Under general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the job of the Engineering Tech will be responsible for generating technical drawings for new machinery or improving existing machine designs. Deliverables & Responsibilities
  • Analyze operations and provide suggestions for possible opportunities to improve product and process.
  • Utilize SolidWorks and Autodesk solid modeling software in conjunction with data management software interfaced with Epicor ERP.
  • Interpret drawings using recognized engineering systems of symbols, legends, shadings and lines in AutoCAD or equivalent.
  • Use initiative, resourcefulness, and manufacturing expertise to contribute any ideas to various engineering personnel.
  • Check incoming and outgoing work to ensure anticipated problems in manufacturing assembly, installation, and operation are resolved.
  • Audit, dimensions, formatting, shop capabilities, and raw materials for manufacturability.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Use lean principles to recognize and reduce waste in any process.
  • Handle daily tasks such as costing, changes to BOM, ECNs, and time standard adjustments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • Two-year technical degree a plus . Minimum of four (4) years in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • SolidWorks, ProE or any 3-D software experience and/or Epicor experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of or experience in manufacturing processes a plus.
  • Candidate must be able to handle multiple projects with multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to handle sudden changes in project/priority, as indicated by Engineering Manager.
  • PC skills required, specifically Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • Must have knowledge of engineering systems of symbols, legends, shadings, and lines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing standard processes.
  • Aptitude to recognize manufacturing waste and seek to eliminate it.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Manufacturing Environment Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
