Our projects span a wide spectrum of industries - including automotive, food and beverage, aerospace, oil and gas, medical devices, and consumer goods - each presenting new challenges that we tackle with innovation and expertise. At Graftek, every day and every problem is unique. We thrive on solving real-world challenges through hands-on engineering, creative problem-solving, and close collaboration with our clients and partners. Our team is driven by curiosity, precision, and a passion for technology that makes a meaningful difference. We are looking for a Manufacturing Technician who thrives in a production environment where precision and pace go hand in hand. In this role, you will assemble hundreds of units across our product lines — working from engineering drawings, schematics, and work orders to build mechanical structures, cable harnesses, and complete opto-mechanical systems. Every unit leaving your bench must meet our quality standard: right the first time, every time. If you are someone who takes craftsmanship seriously, moves efficiently, and never cuts corners, this is a role where that mindset is genuinely valued.
Responsibilities:
Assemble high-end optical and electromechanical components and sub-assemblies to exacting tolerances, maintaining zero-defect quality across high production volumes. Work at a sustained production pace, consistently meeting unit output targets while preserving full attention to accuracy and build quality. Read and work directly from mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and parts/wire lists — no hand-holding required. Perform mechanical fabrication using hand and power tools, including: ◦ Drill press, miter saw, band saw, and related power tools ◦ Drilling and tapping screw holes; cutting stock metal to length ◦ Riveting, sanding, and filing Fabricate and assemble cable harnesses and electrical connector assemblies, including: ◦ Cutting, stripping, and tinning wire ◦ Crimping wire pins/sockets; assembling wire/cable connectors ◦ Soldering board-level components and cable connectors Build complete systems from extrusions, sub-assemblies, and components per engineering specifications. Operate test fixtures and electronic measurement equipment to verify each unit before it advances. Inspect parts for defects using calipers, dial indicators, levels, and other precision measuring tools. Follow all operating instructions, safety protocols, and PPE requirements without exception. Log progress, labor hours, and work expenses accurately in the tracking system. Identify process errors or assembly issues promptly and contribute to corrective action.
Required Qualifications:
Some hands-on experience with mechanical assembly or fabrication - shop class, internship, or prior work all count. Demonstrated ability to work accurately and efficiently in a production setting; speed and quality are both non-negotiable. Comfortable with hand and power tools common in light manufacturing. Ability to read basic mechanical drawings or electrical schematics, or genuine eagerness to develop that skill quickly. Basic understanding of electrical/electronic systems and principles. Exceptional attention to detail and a personal standard of zero defects. Good written and verbal communication skills. High school diploma or equivalent. Basic computer proficiency in a Microsoft Windows environment (email, data entry, file management).
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience assembling opto-mechanical or precision electromechanical products in a volume production environment. Associate's Degree in a technical or related field.
Advanced Windows proficiency:
OS installation, network configuration, and system administration.
