Shift:
Monday through Friday from 3:00pm-11:30pm Job Summary Interacts with members of the Knobline Department (operators, leads, and the supervisor), Shipping and Receiving Department (clerks and leads), Maintenance Department (crib attendants and leads), Tool and Die Department (toolmakers and lead), Quality Control (inspectors and leads), and Engineering Department (production engineers). Responsible for the set-up and daily operation of all tooling, hysons, and transfer systems for the Willett line. Maintains an inventory of all necessary tooling for the line as well as log sheet, log book, and SPC charts daily. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • (30%) Operates transfer presses and ensures that proper start-up procedures are followed. In the event of a shut down, ensures that the rams are positioned for proper start up.
  • (15%) Sets-up and maintains all tooling on the Willett line including proper positioning and maintenance of all air probes on line. Checks all safety guards, switches, and controls to ensure they are in proper operating conditions.
  • (10%) Sets die in press. Checks and replaces Hysons. Rebuilds transfer slides.
  • (10%) Maintains the cleanliness of Willett line and surrounding area.
  • (10%) Maintains operating logs and records all reasons for down time including SPC charts.
  • (5%) Inspects all operating stations visually to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • (5%) Works with Lead and or Production Engineer to trouble shoot any tooling problems during runs and corrects and/or changes in tooling as required.
  • (5%) Works with Plant Electrician in diagnosing and/or trouble shooting problems that may arise in the programmable controller.
  • (5%) Checks all safety guards/switches for proper operating conditions regularly.
  • (5%) Uses judgment to determine whether tooling or maintenance tickets should be written.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitors the quality and quantity of parts produced.
  • Ensures safety measures such as wearing protective clothing and glasses and reports any unsafe working conditions.
  • Records data on log sheets and SPC worksheets.
  • Participates in group efforts so that each person may be able to function in the team oriented activities of the department.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Education and Experience Profile
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience in a related position is highly desirable.
Required Skills Technical/Functional Competencies:
  • Good mechanical ability
  • Able to work well under pressure (Ex. Analyzing reasons for shut down of a machine).
  • Able to make decisions constantly during the day.
  • Able to read and use measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers etc.
  • Able to look up and pull prints from computer system.
  • Able to read blueprints.
  • Able to make changeovers on all styles of knobs in a reasonable amount of time.
