Job Description
Petro-Hunt, L.L.C, a Dallas, Texas mid-sized independent Oil and Gas Exploration Company, is seeking a Production Field Technician for its Midland office. About Petro-Hunt, L.L.C. Petro-Hunt, L.L.C. is a privately held independent oil and gas company headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Owned and operated by the William Herbert Hunt family, Petro-Hunt and its affiliates are actively engage in various industries with a primary focus in the oil and gas industry. Our company traces its roots to the 1920s, when the legendary H.L. Hunt entered the oil and gas business in El Dorado, Arkansas, and later played an active role in developing the East Texas Oil Field from the drill test of the Daisy Bradford #3. Today, Petro-Hunt is a Top 10 Private Liquids Producer in the U.S. with operations in six states. We are more than just an oil and gas company -- Petro-Hunt actively purchases minerals and royalties, owns and operates a gas processing facility, is part owner of an oil refinery, actively invests in real estate development, and operates a private equity alternative investment division.
Job Description:
Duties will include, but not be limited to, supporting daily field operations to ensure safe, efficient, and optimized production across company assets. The Production Field Technician will be responsible for monitoring well performance, troubleshooting equipment, and collecting critical data used by engineering and operations teams. This role works closely with Foremen, Production Engineers, and other field personnel to identify issues, implement solutions, and maintain production targets. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and capable of diagnosing both surface and downhole issues. The position is primarily field-based and requires working in varying weather conditions, traveling between well sites, and responding to operational needs as they arise.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Shoot and record fluid levels on producing wells using appropriate diagnostic tools. Perform dynamometer testing and echometer surveys to diagnose downhole conditions and artificial lift performance. Troubleshoot and diagnose downhole issues including pump fillage, gas interference, and mechanical failures. Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot surface equipment including: Pumping units Separators Compressors Flowlines and production facilities Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs) Monitor well performance and report irregularities or production issues. Work closely with Foreman and Production Engineers to maintain and optimize production. Assist with well startups, shutdowns, and routine operational adjustments. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of field data and daily activities. Follow all company safety policies and participate in job safety analyses and risk mitigation practices.Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with minor repairs and routine maintenance on production equipment. Support workover operations and equipment change-outs as needed. Communicate effectively with operations and engineering teams regarding field conditions and performance. Participate in training and development to expand technical knowledge of production systems and diagnostics.Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Basic understanding of artificial lift systems (rod lift, ESP, etc.) Ability to interpret dynamometer cards and fluid level data (preferred) Good communication and teamwork skills Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field Strong attention to detail in data collection and reportingTechnical Tools & Equipment:
Experience with the following is preferred: Dynamometer (surface and downhole analysis) Echometer / fluid level equipment Pumpoff controllers, VSD s, VFD s, etc. Basic hand tools and diagnostic equipment Field data collection systemsRequirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred. 1-3 years of oilfield or production operations experience preferred. Experience with artificial lift systems and production equipment is a plus. Valid driver s license with a clean driving record.
