Eco-Friendly Lumber is looking for a motivated and dependable Production Assistant to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with a background in cabinetry, carpentry, woodworking, or furniture production who enjoys working with quality hardwoods and takes pride in a well-made finished product. Our shop works with both live edge and dimensional lumber , producing furniture and custom wood products while also processing and handling a wide variety of unique lumber. We're looking for someone who appreciates the character of natural wood, understands the fundamentals of woodworking, and is interested in continuing to develop their skills. This position offers a great mix of woodworking, furniture production, and lumber handling . Some days may be spent building or finishing furniture in the shop, while others may involve organizing, stacking, and preparing lumber. We're a small team, so being willing to contribute wherever needed is an important part of the role. Responsibilities Assist with the production and assembly of live edge and solid wood furniture Prepare lumber and components for furniture production Measure, cut, sand, shape, and finish wood using common woodworking tools and equipment Assist with joinery, assembly, glue-ups, and other furniture-building processes Work with both live edge slabs and dimensional hardwood lumber Select and prepare material for projects based on quality, grain, dimensions, and intended use Stack, sort, organize, and inventory lumber Move, load, and unload slabs, dimensional lumber, and finished products Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe production environment Properly care for tools, equipment, materials, and workspaces Assist with other production and shop needs as they arise What We're Looking For The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in cabinetry, carpentry, furniture making, or general woodworking . You don't need to be a master furniture maker, but you should be comfortable in a woodshop and understand the importance of accuracy, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. We're looking for someone who: Has previous cabinetry, carpentry, furniture, or woodworking experience Is comfortable reading a tape measure and working accurately to dimensions Has experience with common woodworking tools and shop equipment Understands basic woodworking and assembly techniques Takes pride in craftsmanship and the quality of their work Is comfortable working with large, heavy pieces of lumber Is dependable, organized, and able to work independently Works well as part of a small, collaborative team Understands the importance of shop and equipment safety Is willing to learn new techniques and take on increasing responsibility Experience working with hardwoods, live edge slabs, cabinetry, furniture construction, finishing, or milling equipment is especially valuable. The Work This is an active, hands-on position. Furniture production is an important part of the role, but working with lumber is equally important. Candidates should be comfortable with the physical side of the job, including stacking lumber, moving slabs, organizing material, loading orders, and keeping production running efficiently .
