General Production Assembly Technician - Blaze King Industries, Inc. Since 1977, Blaze King has been one of Walla Walla Valley's premier industrial employers. Job Summary:
Perform the final assembly of wood stoves, and various accessories, with a focus on safety, exceptional and consistent quality and achievement of performance goals. § Permanent; full-time (40hrs/week) § Day shift: 8.5 hours Monday-Thursday; 6 hours Friday § Reports to the
General Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Assemble steel and cast-iron wood stoves. § Assemble wood stove accessories including pedestals, fans and shrouds. § Ensure exceptional product quality by consistently following assembly procedures, inspecting components for non-conforming conditions, and performing final inspections of products for proper assembly and operation. § Safely operate hand and power tools. § Build wooden crates and package stoves for shipment. § Report finished products in the electronic inventory control system. § Carefully and consistently label finished products. § Complete daily production paperwork. § Assist in periodic inventory cycle counts. § Maintain the organization of work areas. § Cross-train in welding, if needed. § Perform additional miscellaneous duties as requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
§ Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of personality types. § Excellent attention to safety. § Consistent and detail-oriented attention to product quality. § Ability to work diligently and with a sense of urgency. § Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems. § Strong mechanical aptitude. § Basic understanding of inventory control procedures. § Basic computer and keyboarding skills. § Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles a plus. § Well organized and able to work with minimum supervision. § Ability to perform basic math calculations. § Ability to interpret part drawings and use them to identify physical parts. § Ability to operate production machinery including a forklift. § Ability to complete in-house forklift operator certification.
Education and Experience:
§ High school diploma or equivalent required. § Two or more years of manufacturing experience preferred. § Two or more years of mechanical work experience preferred. § Forklift operation experience preferred. Physical Requirements § Prolonged periods of standing and walking with occasional periods of sitting. § Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly and 60 lbs. occasionally. § Stoop, kneel, reach, climb steps/ladders, and push/pull while operating pallet jacks. § Navigate production shop and warehouse safely.
Compensation and benefits:
