Safety Boat Engineer A Safety Boat Engineeris responsible for the safe and efficient operation of watercraft, for our Bridge Construction division. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, compliance with maritime laws, and the ability to handle vessels in varying conditions. Key Responsibilities Operate and navigate our boats on inland waters, following approved routes and speed limits Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vessel is seaworthy, with all safety equipment functional Monitor weather and water conditions , adjusting plans to avoid hazards Maintain navigation and communication equipment and use it effectively Dock and moor safely , coordinating with port authorities and other vessels Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to keep the vessel in optimal condition Respond to emergencies and coordinate rescue or safety procedures Follow all maritime laws and regulations , including boating safety rules and environmental protections Required Skills & Qualifications Valid Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate (SBC) (e.g., captain's license) CPR Certification OSHA 10 Knowledge of maritime safety regulations Strong communication skills for interacting with crew, and authorities Physical fitness to work in varying weather and conditions Basic mechanical skills for maintenance tasks Work Environment May work weekends, or irregular hours depending on the operation Exposure to open water, weather changes, and potential emergencies .
